Students snapping students.

With Coupeville Sports in its 10th year of existence, you always want to find new ways to keep things evolving.

Thanks to Coupeville High School yearbook teacher Jackie Saia and her student photographers, we’ve been able to run more photos from different sources than normal.

And, when it’s teenagers behind the camera, and teenagers in front of the camera, as in these Wolf cheer pics, there’s often a different feel to the photos, I’ve found.

There’s less of a remove than what you sometimes get when the photographer is an adult, and the pics seem to capture a different side of the athletes.

At least that’s what I think.

They’re always ready to mix business with pleasure.

When gametime hits, the Coupeville High School cheerleaders are on point, out in front and diligent in leading Wolf Nation in rockin’ the house.

But, before they put their game faces on, the young women in red and black also like to goof around with each other and pose for pics, like these from fellow CHS student Bailey Thule.

One cheerleader for every family in town.

Or at least pretty close.

With the guidance of former Coupeville High School cheer coach Sylvia Arnold and her protege, Cavan Simonson, the current Wolves welcomed 84 junior cheerleaders to Mickey Clark Field Thursday for a halftime performance.

The youngsters, who range in age from Pre-K to fifth grade, put in practices over the past couple of weeks, then flooded the field and made the turf shake.

They light the fuse.

The current edition of the Coupeville High School cheer squad has proven to be a strong unit, capable of firing up overflowing crowds at gridiron games this season.
