Hey, how can you say no to these sluggers?

Breaking news: your car is probably dirty.

I know mine is, certainly, though nothing short of a nuclear explosion is likely to rip off the ground-in fungus which has attached itself to the battered frame.

But, there’s still hope for you.

And, by sheer coincidence, the Coupeville High School softball squad is available to make your ride all bright and shiny.

The Wolves will be camped out at Whidbey Island Bank today from 10 AM-2 PM, hoses and scrub pads at the ready.

Money raised will go to help the squad obtain new home and away uniforms.

Do you want your car to be dirty for the 4th of July?

No, no you don’t.

So take advantage of a rare opportunity and swing by Whidbey Island Bank (401 N. Main in Coupeville) Saturday and get your car all shimmery in time for the nation’s birthday.

Coupeville High School volleyball players will be manning the hoses and scrub brushes starting at 10 AM.

Don’t show up and they will find you.

It’s a win-win.

Get your car washed, help fuel the most successful sports program in Central Whidbey.

The Coupeville High School girls’ basketball squad, which has won back-to-back 1A Olympic League titles (while never dropping a league game) is back at it Saturday, soap and scrub brush in hand.

The Wolves will be at Whidbey Island Bank on N. Main Street in Coupeville from 10 AM-2 PM, staring down any and all dirty vehicles.

Maybe not my science project of a ramblin’ wreck (there’s no hope for that one), but everything else is fair game.

But what if your car is already clean?

Not a problem, as they will be accepting donations as well.

Money raised will go to help pay for the Wolves to attend summer basketball camp.

With the CHS hoops program booming under the leadership of round-ball gurus David and Amy King, an all-time high of 19 girls are camp-bound this year.

South Main Street will be hoppin’ Saturday.

The Coupeville Lions Club will be hosting their annual garage sale at the elementary school starting that day, and various factions of Wolf athletes will be taking advantage of the increased traffic.

The CHS volleyball squad will host a fundraiser car wash from 10-2 in the back parking lot at Windermere.

Meanwhile, a couple of doors down, volleyball mom/perpetual whirlwind Amy Briscoe and Co. will be movin’ dresses.

My Fairy Godmother, which collects and distributes inexpensive and free dresses to local girls for a variety of dances, will be having a sale in what used to be the insurance office right smack across the street from the elementary school.

An array of formal dresses will be priced at $20 and below, with proceeds going to benefit the MFG program.

So now you know. And knowing is half the battle.

It’s too late to save my car. But maybe not too late for yours.

The Coupeville High School girls’ basketball team will be holding a car wash fundraiser this Saturday, May 30, and the Wolf hoops stars pledge to put the sparkle back on your ride.

The event, which runs from 10-2:30 at Whidbey Island Bank on North Main Street, will help raise funds to send CHS to a summer basketball camp.

If you support their cause, you’ll be backing the best, as the Wolves are coming off of a season in which they swept to an Olympic League crown.

Coupeville went 9-0 in league play, winning every game by double figures, with junior Makana Stone claiming league MVP honors.

While the squad will lose six seniors, the program is strong, with the JV having also gone 9-0 against their league foes this past season.
