There’s movement on the charts.

After several weeks of having four Wolves on the top 10 lists for 2B athletes, the Coupeville High School track and field team has added to its numbers.

Coming off of strong performances at a home meet, CHS juniors Lyla Stuurmans and Katie Marti join Reese Wilkinson, Cael Wilson, and Nick Guay among the state’s current best.

At the same time, Carly Burt, through no fault of her own, slips off the charts for the moment, as several pole vaulters passed her best height.

But never fear, the week ahead presents two more opportunities for the Wolves to throw down top times, heights, and distances.

Coupeville is slated to travel to Lynden Thursday and Lakewood Saturday as the regular season comes to an end.

Where the Wolves land on the top 10 charts through April 22:

GIRLS:

400 — Lyla Stuurmans (8th) 1:04.72

Shot Put — Katie Marti (8th) 33-05

Discus — Reese Wilkinson (9th) 105-09

Not a whole lot of movement.

Coupeville High School track and field got back at it this past weekend, snapping a two-week layoff with an appearance at a meet in Forks.

The Wolves, who have a home meet this Wednesday, followed by a trip to the Lil’ Norway Invitational Saturday, retained their spots on the statewide top 10 rankings, with just a little tweaking here and there.

CHS currently has four athletes sitting among the best in 2B.

As of April 15:

GIRLS:

Discus — Reese Wilkinson (6th) 104-04.50

Pole Vault — Carly Burt (10th-tie) 7-00

BOYS:

High Jump — Nick Guay (3rd-tie) 6-00

Pole Vault — Cael Wilson (4th-tie) 11-00

They defeated their greatest opponent – inactivity.

Coupeville High School track and field stars haven’t competed since March 28, but four Wolves have stubbornly held on to their spots on the Top 10 lists for 2B athletes.

Three of the four saw their rankings slip just a bit, as other teens had a chance to post new times and heights, but now it’ll be their turn.

The quartet, and their teammates, return to action this coming Saturday, with an appearance at the Forks Lion Club Invitational.

After that the Wolves have four more regular season meets as April plays out, before beginning the postseason run in May.

As classes start back up, and CHS track returns to the day-to-day grind, a look at where Cow Town sits among 2B’s best:

GIRLS:

Discus — Reese Wilkinson (7th) 104-04.50

Pole Vault — Carly Burt (8th-tie) 7-00

BOYS:

High Jump — Nick Guay (2nd-tie) 6-00

Pole Vault — Cael Wilson (5th-tie) 11-00

It wasn’t perfect, but it’ll do.

Coming off a string of first-place team performances, the Coupeville High School track and field squad coasted into spring break with a decent, if not spectacular outing Thursday afternoon.

Competing against 10 other teams in Mount Vernon, the Wolves claimed five wins and 40 PRs en route to finishing second in the boys’ team battle, and third in the girl’s rumble.

Host Mount Vernon Christian claimed both titles, edging the CHS boys 139-133.5 and romping past La Conner 156-105.5 on the girl’s side.

The Wolf female crew finished with 93 points.

Coupeville did sweep the pole vault trophies during one of the “colder, wetter meets” veteran CHS coach Bob Martin has experienced.

Getting warmer the higher in the air they sailed, Carly Burt and Cael Wilson soared over the bar in style.

Other wins came from Nick Guay (High Jump), Carson Field (1600) and the boys 4 x 100 relay unit.

That foursome was comprised of Marquette Cunningham, Wilson, Preston Epp, and Guay.

Surviving and thriving in the less-than-stellar weather, the Wolves held up well.

“Despite facing adverse conditions, they did amazing!” Martin said. “Their resilience and adaptability are commendable.

“We saw a lot of great performances today with many athletes setting new PR’s and selflessly participating in events outside of their comfort zone.”

Coupeville, which reached the halfway point of the regular season Thursday, is now off until April 13, when it travels to Forks for the Lions Club Invitational.

Boom. Exclamation point on the season.

The Coupeville High School JV spikers still have a Halloween-themed practice on the docket, but the Wolves closed out their game schedule with a bang Thursday.

Sweeping host Friday Harbor in three torrid sets, the young guns nailed down their first road win of the campaign, snapped a three-game skid, and capped things with a sweet W.

The victory lifts Coupeville’s final record to 3-5 in Northwest 2B/1B League action, 5-9 overall.

Even playing with just six players — freshman Lexis Drake was back in Coupeville in her other role as a Wolf cheerleader celebrating big bro Jaje’s Senior Night on the gridiron — CHS brought the fury.

It capped a season of learning for a very young roster, which featured five freshmen and a limited bench.

“I will say, this last little chunk of the season, I’ve appreciated them more and more with the work they’re putting in,” said Coupeville coach Ashley Menges.

And while the JV team is done playing, at least one spiker continues on, as Chloe Marzocca, who delivered a team-high 11 aces Thursday, has been added to the varsity roster for the playoff push.

Thursday stats:

Capri Anter — 1 kill, 2 digs, 7 aces
Haylee Armstrong — 5 kills, 2 assists, 2 aces
Carly Burt — 6 aces
Chloe Marzocca — 1 kill, 5 assists, 11 aces
Myra McDonald — 1 kill
Dakota Strong — 1 kill
