The Wolves own the competition mats.

The Coupeville High School cheer squad rolled to a big win Wednesday in Puyallup, claiming first place in the co-ed division at the Cougar Climb.

The event was hosted by Cascade Christian Schools.

While the win was impressive, it’s just the start for Jennifer Morrell’s 15-member competition squad, which will continue to vie for honors during the winter season.

The leaders are in place.

As Coupeville High School cheer makes the move indoors for basketball season, coach Jennifer Morrell has named a new group to be front and center.

Mila Light and Bella Karr will be winter captains, with Abbigail Bond and Olivia Hall operating as co-captains.

All four were part of the fall CHS spirit team, as well, with Karr sharing captain duties with Jacob Schooley.

“All of high school this team has been a place for me to go to, to feel loved and accepted.”

Abbigail Bond was speaking for herself, but it’s a sentiment shared by the other four seniors on the Coupeville High School cheer squad.

“I love you all so much, and I wouldn’t be here without you,” added Miles Gerber, while Avery Williams-Buchanan offered “I have felt incredibly supported by my whole team, family and friends.”

One team, one dream — a loud ‘n proud squad keeping spirits flying high in Wolf Nation.

The rain didn’t dampen their spirit.

Despite Mother Nature dumping cold rain on Saturday’s Coupeville High School football game, Wolf Spirit Team members and their Junior Cheer counterparts stayed loud ‘n proud.

The photos above and below capture two generations of Cow Town cheerleaders in action, showcasing current CHS students passing on their love of the sport to those who will follow in their footsteps.

They’re ready for their closeups.

As Coupeville High School football preps for a trip to South Whidbey Friday night to play the 16th edition of the Battle for the Bucket, we pause to pay tribute to the Wolf sideline crew.

Jennifer Morrell’s cheer squad is among the most vibrant in the land, through wins and losses.

Which will they get Friday in Langley? Only time will tell.

But, for the moment, fill some of your pre-game time by cheering on the cheerleaders.
