"Psst, Amazon Smile ... check it out." (John Fisken photo)

“Psst, Amazon Smile … check it out.” (John Fisken photo)

Your finger has the power.

With one simple click this holiday season, you can help support the Coupeville Booster Club and Wolf athletics.

The Booster Club has linked up with Amazon to take part in the company’s Smile program, which kicks 0.5% of eligible sales to the charity of your choice.

How to take part? It’s simple.

When you go to place an order through Amazon, shop at https://smile.amazon.com/, making sure to choose the Coupeville Booster Club as the charity you support.

The first time you do this, it’s important to check, as you’ll often be defaulted to another charity. Once you’ve tabbed the Wolves, you’re golden for future visits.

If you have an existing account/Amazon Prime, it won’t change how you log in, other than you ALWAYS start from the Amazon Smile page.

Go about your normal business, and a percentage of the profits gets kicked back to Coupeville, as easy as that.

With the holiday gift-giving season in full swing, you can stock up, dodge trips to the mainland and support local athletes, all with a simple click of the finger.

Have questions? Let’s let Amazon do the heavy lifting for me:

crab

This crab is not on the menu, but a whole lot of the real thing will be Oct. 22 at the Coupeville Booster Club fundraiser. (John Fisken photo)

All the pertinent info in one easy-to-read flier.

All the pertinent info in one easy-to-read flier.

Get in my mouth.

That’s what you’ll be saying Saturday, Oct. 22, if you get your tickets now for the annual Coupeville Booster Club Crab Feed.

The biggest fundraiser for the organization, it goes down at the Whidbey Island Nordic Lodge Hall (63 Jacobs Road in Coupeville).

I could say more, but you could also just scroll back up and look at the flier above and get all the info in half the time.

What I will say is the Booster Club is invaluable in supporting Wolf athletics at every level, something I’ve witnessed first-hand.

But to do the magic, which ranges from providing CHS coaches snappy, school-branded clothing to sponsoring scholarships to buying training equipment, the Booster Club needs a financial boost from Wolf supporters like you and me.

And hey, you’re getting crab. Kind of a win-win, if you ask me.

Two days until the biggest night of the summer.

People from near and far are expected to pack the Coupeville Rec Hall this Friday, Aug. 19 for an auction fundraiser to help an ailing Wolf hoops star.

Bennett Boyles, 11, finished three weeks of treatment for inoperable tumors on his brain stem and just returned home from Seattle, but he and his family still face a tough road ahead.

Bennett’s teachers at the Ebey Academy have been spearheading fundraisers all summer to help his mom, CHS grad Lucienne Rivera, a single mom of two who had to quit her job to take care of her son.

Friday night the Rec Hall will be jumping to the music of Jacobs Road, with more than 100 items up for auction.

Tickets are $10 and can be bought at the door (the rec hall is at 901 NW Alexander St., across the street from Christopher’s on Whidbey.)

The event, which runs from 6-10 PM, is open to all ages.

Beverages and hors d’oeuvres will be available, with wine and beer offered by donation thanks to Penn Cove Tap Room.

Some of the many items which will be up for auction:

Toby’s Tavern gift basket
Knead & Feed baking class
Framed, signed Steve Largent jersey
A party with Santa
A Seahawks tailgate party
Wine and cheese basket
A wheelbarrow full of beer
Photography sessions
A month of child care at Ebey Academy
Handyman hours
Oak Harbor Cinemas tickets
A fire pit with all the fixings

Bundy celebrates Senior Night with family.

Bundy celebrates Senior Night with family.

Gone, but not forgotten.

After blazing a mighty trail across Wolf Nation as a soccer and football player, Zane Bundy is now off pursuing his college sports dream.

Bundy is a freshman at Santa Barbara City College, where he’s trying to make the Vaqueros squad as a kicker.

A four-year starter for the Coupeville High School boys’ soccer squad, Bundy mixed up things as a senior and joined the Wolf football squad.

He ended up leading CHS in scoring and finished among the top kickers in Washington state, earning interest from SBCC, a school with a strong football tradition (and 11 conference championships to its credit).

As the Vaqueros prepare for their season (they open against Ventura Sept. 3), players are raising money to help with expenses.

Donations will go towards helping with “a new rack of dumbbells, resistance-bands, our end of year banquet and awards ceremony, pregame meals, travel expenses, game-day attire and assistant coaching stipends.”
