Majestic.

Jodi and Jon Crimmins, two of my favorite people in the world.

Am I saying we should buy artwork for our favorite king of the wilderness?

Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying.

Jon Crimmins is kind of a legend in this here area — one part Davy Crockett, one part Paul Bunyan, all parts awesome.

Wild animals bow in his presence, and the whole dang Washington state parks system would likely crumble without his hand to guide it.

Doubt me at your own peril.

I’m just saying, you fall off a mountain and get stuck in a crevasse somewhere, surrounded by bears and bobcats carrying napkins, plates, and forks, it’s Crimmins — hair flowing in the breeze like Fabio — who’s gonna drop out of the sky while doing chin-ups on the landing gear of a helicopter and save your behind.

And that’s a guaran-dang-tee!

Anyways … the best GoFundMe in recent memory has launched in a bid to get our park ranger legend some suitable artwork for his office.

It’s not just any paint by numbers mini masterpiece, but an epically etched portrait of an elk which is, and I quote wife Jodi here, the “size of his entire office wall.”

So, you could go buy yourself some ice cream tonight, or you could chip in and help unite man and beast, at least in terms of them sharing the same space.

Go, pop over to GoFundMe, take a gander at the painting, and tell me this is not destiny:

UPDATE: Success!!

Man and beast, united.

Jodi Crimmins

Give Jodi Crimmins an hour, and she’ll pump your brain up.

The Coupeville High School grad, once the most-ferocious basketball player to ever pull on a Wolf jersey, has traded flying elbows o’ death for outdoors learnin’.

Now a Garden and Sustainability Teacher on Special Assignment for Oak Harbor Public Schools, Crimmins enters the computer matrix next Saturday, July 11 to give an online talk, “How School Gardens Empower Young People.”

Offered by the Sno-Isle Library system, the talk runs from 9-10 AM on Zoom, and is free to enjoy for all who sign up.

During her days as a Wolf, Crimmins was a rampaging force of nature on the basketball court, ripping down rebounds and thrashing anyone who entered her danger zone.

Off the court, she remains one of the kindest human beings the planet has ever produced.

Jodi, who played basketball under her maiden name of Christensen, married fellow CHS grad Jon Crimmins, and the duo raised two more Wolves, with son Aiden and daughter Maggie also making off with diplomas from their parent’s alma mater.

An alumni of Miriam’s Espresso, Jodi is now a state Science Fellow who “provides training on environmental literacy and sustainability projects, school-wide composting systems, and outdoor learning opportunities linked to the U.S. Department of Education National Green Ribbon Schools program.”

With her help, the Oak Harbor school district earned the 2019 Green Medalist Award from Washington Green Schools.

Aiden Crimmins (John Fisken photos)

Aiden Crimmins, possibly up to shenanigans. (John Fisken photos)

Aiden

“I will destroy you, my fuzzy yellow nemesis!!”

Aiden Crimmins is keeping the family business going strong.

As the son of legendary CHS athletes/shenanigans-causers Jon and Jodi (Christensen) Crimmins, he is busy in both worlds.

Aiden has been known to wield a baseball bat and a tennis racket, just like his dad, while also always being front and center when it comes time to root for his classmates.

Part of a pack of Wolves prone to wearing costumes, he puts a capital E in enthusiastic.

He’s also been known to eat Twinkies that had previously been stored in someone’s underwear, cause … well … Twinkies are delicious and it made his mom blush three shades of red on an otherwise cold day at the tennis court.

The kind of guy whose smile arrives several feet ahead of him, Aiden, who celebrates a birthday today, is a genuine good dude in all ways.

Entertaining, goofy, smart, a blessing (most days) to his parents, a good brother (at least in public) to lil’ sis Maggie and a lot of fun.

He lights up the room when he enters, and he’s a guy you can’t help but root for, always.

So happy cake day (or Underwear Twinkies, if you prefer), Aiden! May it be as awesome as you are.

Maggie Crimmins (John Fisken photo)

Maggie Crimmins (John Fisken photo)

Maggie Crimmins is descended from royalty.

Her parents, Jon and Jodi (Christensen) Crimmins were two of the best and brightest to ever rep the red and black at Coupeville High School.

Her mom, quite simply, was the most ferocious force of nature to ever hit a basketball court, a whirlwind of flying elbows and knees who wiped out anyone (even her own teammates) if they dared to touch a basketball she had in her sights.

Maggie is not quite as much of a bruiser, but the CHS freshman, who celebrates a birthday today, has inherited all the other wonderful qualities of her mama.

Like Jodi (and the laid-back park ranger extraordinaire who fathered her), Maggie is a sweet-natured, fun slice o’ sunshine.

She lights up the world around her, and, along with older brother Aiden (pretty sunny himself), is keeping the family tradition strong.

We almost lost her to South Whidbey, but a change in dad’s job brought her home to the only school she could possibly attend.

Once a Wolf, always a Wolf.

From the little girl who once bopped around Videoville to the whip-smart, radiant young woman she is today, Maggie is a delight, pure and simple.

We are lucky to have her (and her family) back in Cow Town, making the town look good.

Happy birthday, Miss Crimmins. I hope it’s a great one.
