Ace photo whiz John Fisken was out and about over the weekend and snapped pics of Central Whidbey girls fine-tuning their game on the soccer pitch.

Featured in the photos above are players from GU-10 (sponsored by Iverson Allstate Insurance) and GU-12 (sponsored by Arndt & Walker) soccer squads.

Time to clear out some photos.

They’re starting to pile up a bit, so let’s toss out six random pics for a lazy Easter afternoon. They come courtesy travelin’ photo man John Fisken and cover four of Coupeville High School’s six spring sports teams.

I’m short on girls’ tennis and golf pics right now, so that’s the only reason they’re not represented here.

Want to see more?

Head out to a home game this coming week.

Wolf baseball hosts Granite Falls Monday (April 21) and Friday (25), while softball welcomes in the Cascade Conference’s #1 team, Granite Falls, Tuesday.

The bump in the road has gotten worse.

Missing players and unable to get its offense totally into gear, the Coupeville High School boys’ soccer squad slid to a 5-0 loss at South Whidbey Friday night.

It was only the second time this season the Wolves had been shut out.

The third straight defeat for the booters, it dropped them to 4-6 overall, 3-6 in Cascade Conference play.

And, while they split the season series with their Langley arch-rivals, they now face an uphill battle in the quest to claim a playoff berth.

Two of the three 1A schools in the 1A/2A league will advance to the postseason, and Coupeville will have to make up some ground over the final stretch of the season.

South Whidbey is 6-2-1 in conference, while King’s is 4-3-1.

After a non-conference tilt with Friday Harbor Monday, April 21, the Wolves have five league games left.

Three of those games are against teams below Coupeville in the standings (Lakewood, Sultan and Granite Falls), but CHS also plays King’s and Archbishop Thomas Murphy (8-0, 9-0-1).

There are softball socks, and than there are SOFTBALL SOCKS.

Chloe LaRue, being the younger sister of legendary former Coupeville High School showman Caleb Valko, has to keep the family tradition of being show-stopping alive.

And she does, hands down, in her one-of-a-kind game day wear.

LaRue plays for The Blue Rocks, a minors (7-10) softball team in Oak Harbor.

Her game? Stellar. Her fashion sense? Even more so.
