Sun, smiles, and success

It was a milestone moment.

Saturday’s District 1/2 track and field championships were the last home event for a Coupeville High School sports team during the 2023-2024 school year.

The sun was blazing (after a less than stellar start to spring), 18 Wolves qualified for the state meet, and wandering photographer John Fisken stayed busy, clicking away.

Softball sluggers savor sun

Coupeville and South Whidbey clashed on the softball diamond Friday, with the Wolves crushing their rivals 15-0 under blue skies.

The prairie was alive with the sound of diamond action once more.

Baseball and softball games returned to Coupeville Tuesday, after a week or so of the Wolves playing almost exclusively on the road.

Both CHS squads drilled visiting Orcas Island for key league wins, while wandering photographer John Fisken stayed busy hanging out in the high brush, clicking away.

The sun was nowhere to be found, but the sound of wins drew in the photographers.

Coupeville High School softball crushed visiting La Conner Thursday, while Wolf baseball rallied for an extra-innings win, and John Fisken was on hand to click away.
