Coupeville High School crowned its top vote-getters Friday at halftime of the Homecoming game, and John Fisken was there to capture the moment on film.

The balloons revealed all.

At halftime of Friday night’s Coupeville High School Homecoming football game, eight Wolf seniors were brought out before their classmates.

Over the head of each, a balloon was held, and, when popped, a shower of color revealed Noelle Daigneault and Xavier Murdy as Queen and King of the festivities.

In all, 14 CHS students were honored, their names etched into history alongside those who came before them.

Different island, same result.

Hitting the road for the first time during this pandemic-shortened season, the Coupeville High School girls tennis team swept to a second-straight win Friday afternoon.

Bouncing host Friday Harbor 5-0, the Wolves headed back to the ferry carrying a flawless 2-0 record.

Match three of six against the same foe — Coupeville and Friday Harbor are the only Northwest 2B/1B League schools to play the net game — arrives Wednesday, March 17 back on Whidbey.

Friday’s match featured two new twists from the opener.

Abby Mulholland replaced Noelle Daigneault at second singles, with her teammate sliding over into doubles, where she teamed up with Eryn Wood.

And Wolf sophomore Lucy Tenore made her high school tennis debut, uniting with Sophie Martin for a win.

2nd Doubles — Noelle Daigneault/Eryn Wood beat Lucy Marinkovich/Eleanor Rollins 6-0, 6-0

3rd Doubles — Katelin McCormick/Mary Milnes beat Trinity Cullen/Tate Sonora 6-1, 6-1

 

JV:

4th Doubles — Lucy Tenore/Sophie Martin beat Elanor Gislason/Eva Sanabria 8-0

5th Doubles — Vivian Farris/Hayley Fiedler beat Lilli Turnbow/Isabella VanderYacht 8-2

Both were in action Tuesday, as both Coupeville High School girls soccer teams were in action at home, giving wanderin’ paparazzi John Fisken plenty to keep him busy.

The photos above are a mix of varsity and JV action, but are just the tip of the iceberg.

With all due respect to soccer, tennis, cheer, cross country and football, the fall belonged to volleyball.

The Coupeville High School spikers had the best record of any Wolf squad, went the furthest in the postseason, and, seem to be the only team with their own hype man.

Brian Vick, dad of high-flyin’ twins Willow and Raven, shot a ton of footage as the season unfolded.

Tuesday night he unveiled his magnum opus, a seven-minute tribute to the Wolf sisterhood of the traveling volleyball, at the team’s season-ending banquet.

Now, thanks to papa Vick dropping his work on YouTube, everyone in Wolf Nation can see what he put together.

And, as they watch, everyone should take it as a challenge.

We want hype videos for every CHS team going forward. Every single one, I said!
