That’s a wrap on spiker stats

In the end, it all comes down to numbers.

The Coupeville High School volleyball season ended Wednesday — with the Wolves splitting two matches at the district tourney — bringing an end to stat-keeping for another campaign.

Junior Maddie Georges paced CHS in assists and service aces, with Alita Blouin (digs) and Jill Prince (kills) topping other categories.

Olivia Schaffeld and Prince tied for the team lead in block assists, while there was a four-way tie in solo blocks.

Georges and Schaffeld were the only Wolves to appear in all six stat categories I have, with Prince and Lucy Tenore hitting on five of six.

Overall, all 12 Coupeville players to see action in a varsity match recorded multiple kills and digs.

Fab frosh Lyla Stuurmans was a multi-faceted weapon, delivering 60 kills and 60 digs.

Xavier Murdy gets around.

The Coupeville High School junior has a motor which never quits, and a knack for doing all the small things which matter a lot on the basketball court.

As the Wolves kick off the second half of their pandemic-altered 12-game season with a trip Wednesday to La Conner, we take a look at the stats behind the game.

Murdy, who is also the team’s #2 scorer, leads CHS in offensive rebounds, total rebounds, assists, and steals.

Fellow junior Hawthorne Wolfe, who is averaging 24+ points a night, has snagged the most defensive rebounds, while senior TJ Rickner tops the team in blocked shots.

A look at team-wide stats in those categories, plus shooting totals for field goals, three-balls, and free throws through six games:

The Wolves react to a big play.

One last deep dive into the world of stats awaits.

With fall sports having reached their conclusion this past Saturday, all the kills and digs have been added up for the Coupeville High School volleyball squad.

As expected, First Team All-League picks Chelsea Prescott and Kylie Chernikoff are among the leaders, but the numbers go 11 players deep.

So, marinate in all the assists and service aces, and then on to basketball season we go.

Boom go the bats, splat go the stats

They’re on a tear, and it shows on the stat sheet.

The Coupeville High School softball team has won seven of its last nine games heading into Tuesday’s regular-season finale at South Whidbey.

During that run the bats have been booming, and the runs have been shooting across home plate.

Seven starters are hitting .312 or better on the season, lead-off hitter Scout Smith has scored 35 times in 18 games, and, as a team, the Wolves have smacked nine home runs.

Well, 10 if you count the one a blind ump stole from Nicole Laxton…

As you prepare for Tuesday’s game, and the district tourney out there on the horizon, take a gander at season-to-date numbers:

Time to round up those stats

The season’s not complete without one final swing through the stat sheet.

The Coupeville High School baseball squad exited the playoffs Saturday, after pushing a pair of league champs hard.

With the losses to Northwest Conference kingpin Meridian and Emerald City League bigwig Overlake, the Wolves finished 7-14.

That was a big comeback, though, as Coupeville started the season 0-12.

A 4-3 win over arch-rival South Whidbey snapped the skid — and eventually denied the Falcons a chance to win the North Sound Conference title — and kicked off a seven-game winning streak.

CHS swept three-game sets from Sultan and Granite Falls to snare the final NSC playoff berth.

As they pack up the uniforms, bats, and balls until next spring, a look at final individual stats:
