A new season is upon us.

The arrival of winter sports becomes a reality with the team pics jumping out of the camera of wanderin’ paparazzi John Fisken.

From basketball to cheer and back to much more basketball, Coupeville is primed for the start of actual games, which start this coming Tuesday.

The Wolf girls are at home versus Meridian that night, followed by the CHS boys at home Wednesday against Oak Harbor.

The first week of action wraps Saturday with a home doubleheader against Bush.

Following in the (large) footsteps of Coupeville alumni Will Butela and Mike Duke, among others, former Wolf cheerleader and track star Kiara Burdge is currently tearing up the internet for Jane.com, a national site offering daily boutique deals.

Basketball and cheer have taken over the gyms at Coupeville High School, with the first game less than two weeks away.

Winter cheer is coming.

High School basketball season starts Monday, when Coupeville players hit the floor for their first practices.

While Wolf ballers will just be getting started, their cheer counterparts are already working towards a new season, leaving the gridiron sidelines behind for the warmth of the gym.

First-year CHS coach BreAnna Boon has a 13-woman roster with which to work, with 11 of those Wolves returning from football season.

“We are a small but mighty squad!,” Boon said. “Great things are coming … be prepared to be amazed!”

BreAnna Boon’s first season is in the books.

The Coupeville High School cheer coach capped her first time running things on the Wolf sidelines with a season-ending banquet Tuesday night.

Boon honored seniors Julie Bucio and Moira Reed with four-year awards, while handing out letters to 15 girls who stayed loud ‘n proud while cheering on football this fall.

Now, the coach and her athletes head indoors for the start of basketball season.
