Sophia Milasich also came up a winner against Oak Harbor.

Still undefeated.

Shuffling the roster a bit, the Coupeville High School varsity girls tennis team took care of business Wednesday, bouncing Oak Harbor’s C-Team 6-2.

The home win lifts the 2B Wolves to a pristine 3-0 on the season, with their biggest test coming up quickly.

That arrives Monday, Apr. 18, when Coupeville travels to South Whidbey to face the always-tough Falcons.

Facing off with 3A Oak Harbor, the Wolves controlled much of the match, with two of their six wins coming thanks to 8-0 bagel jobs.

Of Coupeville’s two losses, the closest was a battle royal where the Wolves fell in a tiebreaker.

No games, but plenty of photos.

With spring break having sprung, Coupeville High School sports teams are taking a few days off between competitions.

But, thanks to photo whiz kid John Fisken, you can fill at least 11.2 seconds of the down time perusing the photos seen above and below.

They come from Wolf tennis, track, softball, and baseball games, and you can practically feel the rain, wind, and cold temps of spring sports in each new image.

Chase Anderson delivers a pitch that’s so crisp, the baseball remains in focus while everything else slides away into soft focus.

Gwen Gustafson awaits the arrival of another strike.

Aidan Wilson catches some air.

Mia Farris keeps the numbers jumpin’ on the scoreboard.

Cole White gets in on this whole tapping home thing which is sweeping Wolf Nation.

Samara Maund flings her javelin into the great unknown.

Kim Castro tracks an incoming tennis ball.

The smallest school on Whidbey Island rocked the biggest.

Now, to be fair, 3A Oak Harbor put its C-Team on the tennis court Friday afternoon, when it hosted 2B Coupeville’s varsity netters.

But, even if my diploma came from OHHS many years ago, this blog is called Coupeville Sports, and we’re here to hype the Wolves.

So, mama said knock you out, and the Cow Town tennis squad did just that, blanking their big city hosts to a 7-0 tune.

With the victory, Coupeville improves to a pristine 2-0 on the still-young hardcourt season.

The Wolf duo of Hayley Fiedler and Vivian Farris had the most-lethal rackets Friday, throwing down a bagel job, but everyone in red and black was in a groove.

Vivian Farris slaps a forehand.

Complete Friday results:

1st Doubles — Abby Mulholland/Skylar Parker won 8-4

2nd Doubles — Helen Strelow/Mary Milnes won 8-1

3rd Doubles — Lucy Tenore/Sophie Martin won 8-3

4th Doubles — Hayley Fiedler/Vivian Farris won 8-0

5th Doubles — Kim Castro/Leni Raduenz won 8-5

Brooklyn Thayer takes a snapshot of the standings. (Photo by JohnsPhotos.net)

We’re starting to see some movement.

As we work our way towards the end of March, Northwest 2B/1B League teams are ramping up and beginning to play more conference tilts, accounting for some jockeying in the standings.

If weather permits, the week ahead will keep that trend going.

Coupeville High School baseball has four games in four days — all NWL bouts — hosting Mount Vernon Christian Tuesday and Darrington Wednesday.

After that, the Wolves head to Friday Harbor to face their biggest hardball rival in a Friday afternoon doubleheader.

Meanwhile, the CHS softball squad hosts Darrington, then plays its own twin-bill on Friday Harbor, while Wolf girls tennis travels to Oak Harbor Friday for a non-conference match-up.

Where things sit through Mar. 27:

Northwest League baseball:

School League Overall
Coupeville 1-0 2-3
Friday Harbor 1-0 3-1
Orcas Island 1-0 1-1
MV Christian 1-1 2-1
Concrete 0-0 0-0
Darrington 1-2 1-2
La Conner 0-2 0-2

Northwest League girls tennis:

School League Overall
Coupeville 1-0 1-0
Friday Harbor 0-1 0-1

Northwest League softball:

School League Overall
Darrington 2-0 3-1
Coupeville 1-0 3-1
Friday Harbor 0-0 0-2
Orcas Island 0-1 0-2
La Conner 0-2 0-2
