Frost on the ground, flames on the feet!!

“Outta my way! Superstar comin’ through!!”

Cold weather is no match for steel-willed Lindsey Roberts, who brought the gun show to town.

The air was brisk, but the running was brisker.

Ignoring the elements, brave runners hit the mean streets of Oak Harbor Friday for a 5K Resolution Run.

Among the participants were mother/daughter Wonder Twins Sherry and Lindsey Roberts, who carried Wolf pride with them.

Me? I was nice and warm in the Oak Harbor Cinemas, watching The Hateful Eight and appreciating that the water stains on the ceiling tiles in my theater had stayed unchanged for much of the 28 years I have now gone there.

Rain fails to dampen run for love!!

The heavens burst Saturday morning and it was somehow appropriate.

As the first Goheen Twins Memorial 5K Run/Walk sent runners up Coupeville’s Kettles Trail, the slashing rain failed to deter the sizable turnout.

Set up to honor the lives of Janesah and Janeah Goheen, twin sisters who were killed by a reckless driver on Halloween night 2013, the race recalled one run in the past.

Debbie Goheen, the twins mother, shared with race organizers that the last 5K Janesah had run in came under rainy, gusty weather.

She finished that race, and Saturday, so did all those who came to keep alive the memory of her and her sister.

Robert Bondurant of Chimacum took the inaugural title, covering the course in 20 minutes, two seconds.

Hot on his heels were Christopher Brooks (20:19), Matthew Ortega (24:08) and Eric Brooks (24:49), all from Oak Harbor.

Mary Chamberlin of Oak Harbor was the top female finisher (25:28), rounding out the top five.

“Business up top, speed demon down below, baby.”

“Well yes, I would like to know why Wonder Woman has had to wait so long for her own movie…”

The last time I saw this look, I was in a theater watching “Terminator 2,” and the T-1000 was chasing Arnold down a freeway.

She works hard for the money. McKenzie Bailey, the brains behind everything.

Now, it’s possible the guy on the right lost his trusty steed and is actually chasing his horse. Never know.

“Take my photo and I chop your head off, paparazzi!!”

"Take me out for a walk, they said. Didn't say nothing 'bout no costumes..."

“Take me out for a walk, they said. Didn’t say nothing ’bout wearing no costumes. If the other dogs hear about this…”

“Keep up, old man! I’m gonna lap you!!”

Wonder Woman was in town Saturday.

In fact, at least two versions of her, and a whole ton of other costume-clad folks, were on display as the Coupeville Boys and Girls Club held a costume 5K.

We could try and track down who won, and what their times were, or we could just skip all that and move on to the photos.

Real heroes run!!

Costumes, tutus or running gear, they all ran for a good cause.

Marvel and DC intermingled, as heroes from both sides of the comics world shared the track.

Even the dogs dressed for the occasion.

“Yeah, I’m pretty sure I set a PR. You?”

Superheroes of all sorts ran through Coupeville Saturday.

Some wore costumes, others tutus, and a few wore both.

Whether they dressed up or not, all who showed up for a Tutu 5K on the prairie helped raise money for the Whidbey Island Dance Theatre.

And now some of them get a moment in the spotlight, with their pics landing on the internet.

A 5K at dawn? It’s tutu much!!

The happiest lil’ runner in all the land sprints for the finish line.

Parker and a slightly-less enthusiastic Joey Lippo model the latest in tutu-related running gear.

“I am the champion … of the world!!”

They came, they saw, they strapped on some tutus and went for a run.

Runners descended on the prairie Saturday to support the Whidbey Island Dance Theatre, which held a Tutu 5K to raise funds for its various ballet-related activities.

I was shoulder-deep in Penn Cove at the time, “celebrating” day #200 of being stupid without a wet suit, but, thankfully, Connie Lippo was nice enough to pass on these pics to put me at the scene.
