The Coupeville High School girls basketball squads kicked off a new season Saturday with an appearance at a jamboree in Sedro-Woolley, and that got travelin’ photo man John Fisken to leave the Island as well.

The pics above are courtesy him, but are just the beginning of what he shot.

Closer and closer.

The tip-off of the high school hoops season draws ever nearer, as Coupeville players enter week two of practice.

The Wolf boys had their picture day Monday, and you can see a portion of what John Fisken shot.

Tuesday the camera swings towards the CHS girls, with a jamboree set for Saturday in Sedro-Woolley.

After that comes opening week, with the Wolves set to play three games in five days.

Coupeville travels to Darrington Dec. 3, makes the short jaunt to Oak Harbor the next day, then welcomes Orcas Island to town for the home openers Dec. 7.

And now I’m caught up.

Probably. Maybe. Possibly.

As we wrap up the fall sports season, and begin the pivot to winter and basketball, I’m shaking loose the final photos I have stashed away.

There’s a couple more still hanging round, but they’ll pop up as the final awards banquets are held.

For now, eight glossy John Fisken snaps from a volleyball season in which the 2019 Wolves tied the program record with 14 wins.
