Coupeville’s senior leaders are a ferocious four-pack.

All the milestones are being checked off.

Uniforms have been handed out, photo day is in the books, and the first live action against other teams is just days away for the Coupeville High School girls basketball squads.

The Wolves tip off Saturday at the Sedro-Woolley Jamboree, with their first regular season games coming Tuesday, Dec. 3, when they travel to Darrington.

As they count the hours down, a photographic look at the players who have committed their time to the hardwood, courtesy John Fisken.

The 7th grade Wolves pause for a group snap.

   7th grader Maddie “Mad Dog” Georges is ready to make her middle school hoops debut.

   The Wolf 8th grade squad includes a number of players from a very-successful SWISH hoops team which won a league title recently.

   Anya Leavell enters her 8th grade hoops season coming off of a strong SWISH campaign.

Like ships passing in the night.

High school basketball is headed down the backstretch, with playoffs starting this week, but middle school hoops are far from done.

Having taken control of the court, the Wolf girls kick off their 10-game season Feb. 15 with home games against Chimacum.

As they get ready under the direction of coaches Dustin Van Velkinburgh and Alex Evans, we have a sneak peak at (most of) the Wolves.

While not every player was in attendance when photos were snapped, the majority of them took time to meet with John Fisken, and the result can be seen above.

6th grade

   The young guns are Daniel Barajas (34), Connor Barton (13), Logan Martin (31), Logan Downes (12), Hawthorne Wolf (arms crossed) and Caleb Meyer.

They’re uniting their forces.

While they have talent, a lack of bodies is making Coupeville’s 6th and 7th grade boys’ SWISH squads unite for regular season play.

That will give the squad, which is coached by Pat Kelley, with an assist from Ben “The Brain” Olson, 13 players — with seven 7th graders, five 6th graders and CMS 4th grader Logan “The Prodigy” Downes on the roster.

The hope is the two squads will compete in the playoffs as separate groups, but, for now, they are Team Unity.
