Dane Lucero waits for the ball to smack into his mitt.

Amanda Thomas made her high school softball debut for the Coupeville JV team this spring.

Though just a freshman, Abby Mulholland made an immediate impact as a hard-hitting netter.

Ashley Menges is there for the assist, helping volleyball teammate Lucy Sandahl land a Prom date with Daniel Olson.

Seth Weatherford stretches out, lunging for home in a late-season game.

Annika Heller was one of three foreign exchange students to join the CHS tennis team.

Fab frosh Ja’Kenya Hoskins (striped shirt) lays down the law. “OK, enough with the photos. Maybe go do some real writing now.”

There’s no real flow to this story.

Probably because it really isn’t a story at all, just a collection of spring sports photos I haven’t used, but need to get out to the public at some point.

Hopping nilly-willy between tennis, baseball, and softball, with some fan pics sprinkled over the top, it’s light, glossy, and makes for fast “reading.”

Perfect for a Wednesday.

The Coupeville High School boys soccer season ended Saturday night, after a three-game playoff run.

But before we can close that chapter, I have seven photos left from when John Fisken snapped preseason portraits that I have yet to use.

So here you go, a Sunday afternoon’s worth of glossy head shots for your perusal.

Tariana Hunter was one of four Wolf seniors honored Friday.

Sarah Wright comes flying into third after clearing the bags with a booming shot to center.

Nicole Laxton shares her Senior Night with her family.

“You can run, but you can’t hide!” Chelsea Prescott slaps the tag down emphatically.

Veronica Crownover is a homer-hittin’ machine like the CHS diamond has rarely seen.

Wright and (part of) her huge fan club.

Get you someone who looks at you the way Wright looks at confetti.

Prescott gets movin’.

All in all, Friday was a pretty good day on the prairie.

The Coupeville High School softball squad celebrated Senior Night (with confetti cannons), swept a doubleheader, and did it all under blue skies and sunshine.

In between sips of Diet Coke, noted paparazzi John Fisken fired off about a billion photos, give or take a hundred or so, and you can see some of his work above.

Coupeville second-baseman Heidi Meyers pops up, ready to terminate the hapless runner. (Photos by JohnsPhotos.net)

Audrianna Shaw frames the pitch, then wills the ball into her mitt for a strike.

Ivy Leedy rips a base-knock.

If looks could kill, Kylie Van Velkinburgh would be on death row for murder.

Abby Meyers gets low to field a hot chopper.

Shaw goes medieval on the ball, dumping it deep into the outfield for a triple.

No softball shall escape Heidi Meyers. Ever.

Ivy Leedy puts some zing on the pitch.

Lily Leedy gets down with her bad self, beating the throw to third and working on her yoga poses at the same time.

Home-made pizza was waiting at home, but camera clicker extraordinaire John Fisken put in some work first.

The ever-wandering paparazzi didn’t stay for the entire four-hour-plus Coupeville High School JV softball doubleheader Thursday, but he made it well past the halfway point.

That proved to be enough time to snap a ton of snazzy pics, some of which can be seen above.

To peruse everything he shot, and possibly purchase some glossies for the mantle, pop over to:

And remember, a percentage of all sales goes to fund scholarships for CHS senior student/athletes.

The rest goes for quality pizza toppings, so that’s good, as well.

“Oh, they see me strollin’, they see me rollin’, but they can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man…” Veronica Crownover cruises in with yet another run. (Photos by JohnsPhotos.net)

Scout Smith fires the nasty stuff.

Emma Mathusek double-knots her laces just to be sure. Moments later, though, she rocked a two-run home-run to dead center and came right back out of her shoes.

“No one look at me, I’m just a little invisible deer out here, munching on my tasty tidbits…”

CHS coach Kevin McGranahan likes what he sees.

Coral Caveness was rocking a red-hot bat, smacking four base-hits on the afternoon.

“You dare to run on me? Sarah Wright???? Are you a fool? She’s a fool…”

The runs came crashing across the plate, accompanied by the sound of cameras clicking madly in the distance.

As the Coupeville High School softball squad pulled off a major win over Granite Falls Wednesday, wandering paparazzi John Fisken stayed busy, and the pics above are courtesy him.

And, if you purchase any glossies for grandma, you’ll help CHS student/athletes, as a percentage of all sales goes back in to fund scholarships. So there’s that.
