Can’t tell the graduates without a scorecard.

So here you go, ready to be laminated — the Coupeville High School Class of 2021.

Every name matters, but one stands above them all for me.

Aria Bowen is the final reminder of my 12-year run behind the counter at Videoville from 1994-2006.

The same counter where a lil’ Aria took naps in her carrier while I jabbered about movies, her older sister Mekare built modern art sculptures back at the block table, and their mom, Dea, served up Miriam’s Espresso drinks.

So she gets three photos and a lot of the rest of you grads-to-be maybe don’t get one in this story.

You’ll survive, and still graduate.

Then you can go build a time machine, travel back to when Videoville rented 500 VHS tapes on a Friday night in Cow Town, and plop your own baby tush on our counter.

And, having bent time and space, you can act all surprised when, magically, it’s suddenly you getting three photos in a 2021 graduation story.

Simple really.

Until then, Aria (and a bunch of people not named Aria) form the CHS Class of 2021:

“Money, free MONEY!!!!! Come and get it!!!!” (Photo by JohnsPhotos.net)

Don’t pass up virtually free money.

With just a little work, Coupeville High School seniors can snag a variety of college scholarships and workforce grants, and the competition for some awards remains wide open.

The Senior Parent Board is extending their application deadline until next Friday, May 14 at 2:45 PM.

Applications and essays can be dropped off with Eileen Stone in the CHS office.

First though, take a gander at the photos below for all the pertinent info.

The three scholarships are available to any Wolf planning to attend a two-year, four-year, technical, or vocational school, with the grant aimed at someone going straight to work.

All bring a crisp $500, with just a smidge of work required to be eligible.

Don’t leave money on the table.

The flamingos are on their way.

The last fundraiser for the Coupeville High School Class of 2021 hits March 1-12, with an extreme likelihood of the pink birds showing up all around town.

For more info, take a gander at the photo above.

All proceeds go towards a safe, drug and alcohol-free graduation night party this spring.

Rain? What rain? (Photos by JohnsPhotos.net)

Through rain and pandemic, the show must go on.

While Coupeville High School opted not to hold its annual senior parade this year, Oak Harbor soldiered on, and local photo whiz kid John Fisken was on hand to snap pics.

PS — This time around, all photos can be downloaded for free.

Coupeville coaches line up Friday night to honor senior athletes. (Bob Martin photo)

Lights at the CHS stadium blazed for 20 minutes and 20 seconds to honor the Class of 2020. (Holly Lee photo)

Gone, but not forgotten.

Senior athletes at Coupeville High School, like those all across the state, lost their spring sports seasons when the COVID-19 pandemic shut things down.

Friday night, for 20 minutes and 20 seconds, the Class of 2020 was reminded that their sacrifices are not going unnoticed.

CHS coaches lined the parking lot in front of the elementary school, while keeping proper distance from each other.

Then the lights of the stadium behind them blazed on, lighting up the night from 8:20 to 8:40, as cars drove by amid much honking and some hootin’ and hollerin’.

It was part of a state-wide effort, spurred by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association and athletic directors.
