A new year dawns, so it’s a good time for a quick refresher.

Coupeville High School charges admission for some sports, but not others, while all middle school athletic contests are free to watch.

CHS comes for your wallet at regular season football, volleyball, and basketball games.

It leaves you alone at soccer, baseball, tennis, softball, cross country, and track, though many of those sports do institute a fee once we get to the playoffs.

Regular season pricing for the 2026-2027 school year:

$8.00 — Adults and high school students without an ASB card
$5.00 — Visiting high school/middle school students with an ASB card (*home students are free*)
$5.00 — Senior citizens (62+)
$5.00 — Grade school (K-5)
Free — Children 5 and under

Your wallet belongs to them.

Want to watch Coupeville High School basketball teams open the playoffs Thursday at home? Get your dollar bills (or credit card) ready.

Ticket prices always go up during the postseason, since more people are dipping into the funds.

But you can get a 2-for-1 deal.

Pay for the boys’ game versus Friday Harbor (5:00 tip) and stay for the girls clash with Auburn Adventist Academy at 7:00 without forking over any more moola.

What you can expect Thursday:

 

$8.00 — Adults and high school students without an ASB card

$6.00 — High school/middle school students with an ASB card

$6.00 — Senior citizens (62+)

$6.00 — Grade school (K-5)

Free — Children 5 and under

Sometimes you pay, sometimes you don’t.

All middle school sports events in Coupeville remain free to watch as we head into a new school year, while it’s a split decision for high school games.

Regular season football, basketball, and volleyball contests require some moola to get in the door, while soccer, tennis, softball, baseball, track and field, and cross country are free.

Postseason contests are their own thing, and when we hit that part of the year, be sure to pop back over to the blog for info on what district, regional, or state officials will try and extract from you.

 

For regular season CHS sports which require payment, here’s the breakdown:

$7.00 — Adults and high school students without an ASB card

$5.00 — Visiting high school students with an ASB card

$5.00 — Senior citizens (62+)

$5.00 — Grade school (K-5)

Free — Children 5 and under and Coupeville Middle School/High School students with an ASB card

Playoff action on tap this weekend

Welcome to the postseason.

Two of Coupeville High School’s four spring sports programs are in action this Saturday, with berths to the state championships at stake.

Wolf track hosts the district meet here in Cow Town, while CHS baseball hits the road and travels to Lakewood High School.

Softball and girls’ tennis begin their own postseason treks a bit later, but here’s what you need to know if you’re planning on attending this weekend’s action.

 

BASEBALL:

Steve Hilborn’s crew, which has been on a tear in the second half of the season, carries a 10-8 record into play Saturday, and is the top-seeded squad in a three-team royal rumble.

Northwest Christian of Lacey (9-5) opens against Friday Harbor (5-11) at noon in a loser-out game, with the victor returning to the turf field at 2:00(ish) to face Coupeville for the lone state playoff berth from the District 1/2 tourney.

The Wolves will be the home team in their game.

Lakewood High School is located at 17023 11th Ave NE in Arlington.

Playoff pricing is in effect, with both cash and digital ticketing accepted.

Cost is $8 for adults and students without ASB, and $6 for students with ASB, seniors, and children.

TRACK AND FIELD:

Things will be hoppin’ at Mickey Clark Field, as Coupeville hosts the District 1/2 meet, with 2B and 1B teams competing (separately) for tickets to state.

For out-of-towners, the field is at 501 S. Main, directly behind the Coupeville Elementary.

To advance on to Yakima, Wolf athletes need a top two finish in their event Saturday.

Field events start at 11:00 AM, with track events getting under way at 11:30.

Once again, it’s the postseason, so there will be hands in your pockets if you want to get past the gate.

To wallet, or not to wallet

Not all sporting events are equal.

At least when it comes to whether or not you need your wallet.

We’re sitting 55 hours out from the first game of the 2023-2024 school year, so it’s a good time for a refresher on what Coupeville sports fans have to pay for, and what they don’t.

Simple answer: if you’re a CHS/CMS student with an active ASB card, everything is free until the playoffs roll around and the district steps in to put its hand in your pocket.

For everyone else, you get to fork out some cash for three high school sports — volleyball, football, and basketball.

Regular season high school tennis, baseball, softball, soccer, track, and cross country events are free, as are all middle school games.
