Apparently the three-year break didn’t hurt her all that badly.

Despite not playing basketball competitively since her freshman year in high school, former Wolf Madeline Roberts continues to put up numbers at Shoreline Community College.

Roberts, who is a freshman scholarship softball player for the Dolphins, is one of five players to have seen floor time in all of the school’s 13 womens’ hoops games this season.

She has amassed 22 points, 23 rebounds, 12 steals, two assists and a blocked shot (Roberts may be listed at five-foot-four, but it’s a feisty, rise-up-and-deny-the-shooter five-foot four).

And, if nothing else, all that basketball action keeps her in shape for her true sport.

“We’re here all night, baby!!”

"They broke my camera..."

“They broke my camera…”

Sometimes the cameraman likes to wander.

You can only snap so many shots of basketball players at work before you need to shake things up a bit and spin the clicker towards the audience.

Fueled up by dangerously-high levels of Diet Coke, travelin’ photo man John Fisken delivered these snaps from Wednesday night’s home hoops doubleheader.

Bask in the glow.

While Coupeville and South Whidbey waged war over the course of four games Monday night, John Fisken’s roving camera also caught the antics of fans in the stands.

From Wolf football players reminding the Falcons that they won this year’s football showdown to former CHS hoops star Anthony Bergeron launching his modeling career, there was something for everyone to see.

In the end, the camera will find you all.

Vote "A" for the immortal Mr. Ed.

Mr. Ed is crying inside. “Dang it, if a ref was gonna make the national scene for being obtuse, I thought it would be me!!”

Our secret is out.

Thanks to the next-level muckrakers at Deadspin, the whole world is learning the truth — basketball refs working on Whidbey Island might not be the best the business has to offer.

For every time we here in Coupeville have complained about the gum-chomping, overly-preening “Mr. Ed” and his band of merry miscreants, at least they have never answered a cell phone and talked on it for a minute while a game was being played in front of them.

And yet, that’s just what one ref did recently at a game between Oak Harbor Middle School and North Whidbey Middle School.

Seriously.

No, really.

Doubt me? Jump over and see the proof:

The action was hot ‘n heavy, the camera madly clickin’.
