Shake the walls, raise the roof

The crowd was loud.

Spurred on by the work of their cheerleaders, Coupeville High School basketball fans made plenty of noise Tuesday as the Wolves clashed with visiting Mount Vernon Christian.

Capturing the moment was wanderin’ photo bug John Fisken, who delivers the pics seen above and below.

We’re clickin’ the night away

The gym was alive once again.

Returning from Christmas break, Coupeville basketball players, fans, officials, and cheerleaders brought the buzz into the new year Wednesday night.

As the Wolf girls picked up two wins against visiting Granite Falls, wandering camera clicker John Fisken drank some Diet Coke, and snapped some pics.

Junior cheer returns for hoops season

The spotlight can be theirs again.

Youth cheerleaders get a second chance to perform in front of Coupeville fans, but this time in a warm gym instead of on a muddy football field.

Athletes in grades 3-6 are eligible, with registration set for Jan. 5-12.

Cost is $30, which gets you a t-shirt, or $50, which also gets you poms.

There will be two practices (Jan. 19 and 26) in the Coupeville High School commons, running from 3:30 to 4:45 PM.

CHS varsity cheerleaders will escort elementary school students during the walk between schools those days.

The junior cheerleaders will join the current Wolf spirit team on the floor for a performance Jan. 27, a night when Coupeville hosts Friday Harbor on Coaches vs. Cancer Night.

Buy gear, support Wolf cheer

Get some Christmas shopping done and support Coupeville High School cheer — all from the comfort of your home.

With basketball (and flu) season underway, the Wolves are running a team fundraiser, selling Coupeville gear through Fan Cloth.

The campaign runs through next weekend.

With all the various seasonal maladies running wild, Wolf cheerleaders haven’t been able to be out and about in the community as much as they might like.

“Our whole cheer team has pretty much been down with this crud that is going around and hasn’t been able to get out there and sell,” said CHS assistant cheer coach Tara Crouch.

“But there are some new items added, so if you’re looking for Wolf gear or just want to support our cheerleaders, we’d appreciate your order!”

Wolf cheer heads indoors

Is the gym ready for them?

Coupeville High School cheerleaders have left the football sideline and are headed indoors for basketball season, with 23 athletes listed on their roster.

That includes the addition of several male cheerleaders who have joined Wolf coach Jennifer Morrell’s team for the winter season.
