It’s a squeaky-clean win-win.

Get your vehicle de-grimed at a car wash Saturday, June 3, and you can help Coupeville’s Scout Troop 4058 attend a bold hiking trip to New Mexico.

The crew of 13 scouts and their adult leaders are off to the famous Philmont Scout Ranch in late July for their adventure, which each member needing to cover $3,000 in travel expenses.

The car wash, set to go down in the parking lot at Coupeville’s Windermere Real Estate (5 South Main St.) kicks off at noon.

The minimum suggested donation is $10, but, if you’re feeling generous, let your wallet speak loudly.

Every dollar helps the scouts, who are heading to the home of the “Boy Scouts of America’s premier high adventure base.”

Philmont promises to “challenge scouts with more than 214 square miles of rugged northern New Mexico wilderness.

“Backpacking treks, horseback cavalcades, and training and service programs offer young people many ways to experience this legendary country” is their mantra.

Can’t play without one.

Sports physicals are required for high school and middle school athletes, and are something every parent needs to stay on top of when monitoring their athletes.

For those in need, the Wildcat Booster Club up in Oak Harbor is offering a one-stop experience June 14.

While the event is a fundraiser for OHHS athletic programs, it’s open to all, potentially benefitting Coupeville athletes in need.

Wolf softball raffled off gift baskets to raise money. (Susan Farris photo)

Three Coupeville High School athletic teams combined to raise more than $1,700 for the fight against cancer.

Numbers released by the WhidbeyHealth Foundation show the Wolf softball program brought in $663 for the MAC Patient Goodwill Fund with its April 1 Strike Out Cancer game.

That money goes towards quality coffee and comfort items for patients receiving treatment in the hospital’s MAC clinic.

Softball’s successful slugfest follows on the heels of fundraisers run by girls’ soccer and volleyball last fall.

The booters and spikers combined to bring in $1,063 for the Foundation Mastectomy Basket Fund, which is used for post-surgery patient gift baskets.

“The foundation is very grateful to the CHS teams and their dedicated parents for supporting our community and healthcare on Whidbey!” said Foundation Assistant Heather Tenore.

North Whidbey Little League is asking for help after a storage shed full of equipment was destroyed in an arson fire.

The shed, and a port-a-potty, both located at Koetje Park in Oak Harbor, burnt down April 6.

Inside the structure was equipment used to maintain playing fields, as well as equipment for the T-Ball program.

The shed was valued at $5,000-$8,000, with the t-ball supplies coming in at $3,500.

The fire, which is being investigated as an arson by the Oak Harbor Police Department, will delay the start of the t-ball season two weeks.

As North Whidbey Little League scrambles to replace the equipment and shed, a GoFundMe has been set up for those interested in helping.
