This pic, snapped at a CHS soccer game, is a family photo of sorts, since it features three sisters. (John Fisken photo)

Leave your camera at home and let a pro do all the work for you.

John Fisken, the fast-snappin’ force behind John’s Photos (and the guy who delivers most of the pics used here on Coupeville Sports) has been branching out recently.

Along with sports action photos, he has been focusing on providing a wide variety of non-athletic snapshots to the public.

As the holidays come roaring up on us, now is the perfect time to let Fisken and his camera work their magic for you.

He’s offering a special family photo sitting price of $100 from Nov. 1-15, with a guaranteed print delivery of Dec. 1, which will allow you plenty of time to fire off your Christmas cards.

Cards which will now sparkle with a hint or two of that Fisken photo magic.

To take advantage of the deal of the century (or at least of the month) contact him at johnfisken@comcast.net today.

And yes, this is a shameless plug, but rest assured, I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t think he was very, very good at what he does.

Now, if they're all looking at Coupeville Sports, who am I to complain? (John Fisken photos)

Get your head out of your phone, at least long enough to watch a film about what that screen time is doing to you.

The Coupeville Library is screening the acclaimed documentary Screenagers twice next week.

The film, which will show Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 6 PM and Saturday, Oct. 8 at 2 PM, is being provided thanks to funding by the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation and Friends of the Coupeville Library.

Screenagers, directed by Delaney Ruston, focuses on the impact of screen time on children, teenagers, and their families.

Through poignant and humorous stories, the filmmaker lays out a case for how tech time impacts the development of today’s children, while also offering solutions for how parents can work with their children to find a balance.

The film has received rave reviews in the New York Times and Forbes and been featured on Good Morning America.

A trailer for the film:

Since I don’t have a ton of dress-related photos, a fresh pic of CHS spikers (l to r) Emma Smith, Payton Aparicio, Lauren Rose and Ally Roberts, who have all been known to wear dresses from time to time. (John Fisken photo)

Dress fever grips the nation.

We sit two weeks out from ye olde annual Coupeville High School Homecoming dance and the race is on to obtain garments for said night.

Enter the queen of the haberdashery, the titan of teal, the Tim Gunn of Cow Town, Amy Briscoe.

The mom of CHS spikers Tiffany and Kyla Briscoe, who also doubles as a reasonably-priced dress merchant in her work with My Fairy Godmother, is back at it.

Briscoe (and her 2,709 dresses) will be camped out in the school’s commons area Sept. 30-Oct. 1 (next Friday and Saturday) from 12-6 PM, making with the Homecoming dress rental.

Cost is just $20 (a steal, I say) and Briscoe offers a dazzling variety of styles and sizes.

You can also bring in a formal dress and slice $10 off the rental fee. Thrifty and fashion forward.

Claire Mietus is one of the Coupeville High School Class of 2018 ASB officers involved in Sunday’s car wash fundraiser. (John Fisken photo)

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses of dirty cars yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

No auto is too far gone in the battle against dirt and despair.

Your saviors? The 2018 ASB officers from Coupeville High School, who are bringing their hoses and scrub brushes into battle this Sunday, Aug. 28.

The school leaders are holding a car wash at Whidbey Island Heritage Bank (401 N. Main) to help fund this year’s CHS prom.

Cars will be washed from 10 AM – 2 PM.
