It’s the other action.

While basketball games play out on the court, wanderin’ photographer John Fisken also snaps life in the stands, as seen in the pics above and below.

630 points and counting.

Coupeville High School’s four basketball teams are filling up the net in the early going, with five different Wolves averaging double digits.

As we head into a busy week — three varsity games and two JV clashes — a look at individual scoring stats.

One team’s already lost to Coupeville, and the other is about to do the same.

3A Oak Harbor, which couldn’t hold on to a 10-point lead against the 2B Wolves, and 1A South Whidbey, which arrives in Cow Town Dec. 18, faced off Saturday in a clash of the two Whidbey Island boys basketball teams which are NOT undefeated.

The Wildcats defended their home turf, sending the Falcons back out the door with a 58-26 loss and the sound of “airball!!” ringing in their ears — which set off some fans, according to social media.

With the win, Oak Harbor is 3-2 — while still dealing with the fact it lost to Coupeville, a school three classifications smaller — while South Whidbey falls to 1-5.

The pics above and below are courtesy John Fisken, and I rarely resist free photos.

Even when the teams are wearing the wrong colors.

So there you go.

First place suits them

Livin’ large in the ritzy part of town.

That’s where the Coupeville High School varsity basketball teams are right now, with both the Wolf girls and boys sitting in first place in the Northwest 2B/1B League.

The teams are a combined 4-0 in conference action, and 7-1 overall heading into the final week of action in 2021.

Coupeville travels to Concrete Tuesday, Dec. 14, then meanders to Mount Vernon Christian Dec. 17.

Wrapping up the first part of the hoops season with non-conference showdowns against South Whidbey Dec. 18, the Wolf squads have a rare split.

Coupeville’s boys will be at home, while the girls make the epic journey to Langley.

After that, both teams will practice, but not play for a bit, as the holidays toss in a break.

Games don’t return until Jan. 4, with the majority of the season’s contests playing out in 2022.

Where things stand, through games of Dec. 11:

Big games, big wins, big photos.

The Coupeville High School varsity basketball teams swept to resounding victories Friday against visiting Darrington, and wanderin’ photographer John Fisken was there to capture the moments.

The pics above and below are courtesy him.
