The teams were undefeated, the fans unmatched.

Coupeville High School volleyball supporters came out in big numbers Thursday night to vocally support the Wolves, and both the JV and varsity responded by drilling visiting Darrington.

John Fisken, wandering through the gym in search of a Diet Coke, snapped the fan pics seen above and below.

The Messner clan claims their section of the bleachers.

Madison McMillan stays hyper-focused.

McMillan’s hype man is on point.

It’s still early in the season, but Miss Farris is already in full-on “Mia the Magnificent” mode.

The Stuurmans contemplate gettin’ rowdy.

Katie Marti dominates at the net.

Which makes mom and pops proud.

Carly Burt made a move. Lyla Stuurmans, too.

The duo were the highest risers for the Coupeville High School track and field team, which has six athletes in the top 10 statewide rankings through May 13.

Based on her performance at the district meet, Burt jumps from 7th into a tie for 5th among all 2B female pole vaulters.

Meanwhile Stuurmans gets back into the top 10 in the 400, giving her two slots as she was already camped out among the best long jumpers.

And yet, in a quirk, the Wolf junior won’t get a chance to compete at state in that last event, as she finished third at districts, and only the top two advance.

Stuurmans did punch her ticket to Yakima in both the 400 and 800, however, which takes a little of the sting away.

With just one meet left, the aforementioned state championships, which go down May 23-25, here’s where Coupeville athletes currently sit in the top 10 rankings for 2B:

GIRLS:

400 — Lyla Stuurmans (10th) 1:03.88

Shot Put — Katie Marti (10th) 33-05

Discus — Reese Wilkinson (7th) 111-06

Pole Vault — Carly Burt (5th-tie) 8-06

Long Jump — Stuurmans (5th) 15-08

BOYS:

High Jump — Nick Guay (3rd-tie) 6-00

Pole Vault — Cael Wilson (4th) 12-00

The fantastic five has become the splendid six.

With her performance at the Northwest 2B/1B League Championships last week, Coupeville High School sophomore Carly Burt re-cracks the Top 10 statewide in the pole vault among female 2B athletes.

Meanwhile, Lyla Stuurmans got knocked back out in the 400, for the moment, but held her spot in the long jump.

That duo, along with four other CHS teammates, are among the best of the best with two meets left on the schedule.

Up first is the district meet this Saturday, May 11 in Coupeville. Then, if they qualify, state goes down in Yakima May 23-25.

Discus — Reese Wilkinson (6th) 111-06
