Wolf cheerleaders stand tall. (Photos by JohnsPhotos.net)

The gym was alive once again.

Returning from Christmas break, Coupeville basketball players, fans, officials, and cheerleaders brought the buzz into the new year Wednesday night.

As the Wolf girls picked up two wins against visiting Granite Falls, wandering camera clicker John Fisken drank some Diet Coke, and snapped some pics.

A selection from the latter can be seen above and below.

Cameras clickin’ everywhere.

As I went back through the photos of 2022, I was struck by how many different photographers allowed me to use their work this year.

We’ve had an explosion of Coupeville High School yearbook students putting their photos out into the world, plus Wolf moms everywhere are still the backbone of the franchise.

By the time I was done picking my favorite 20 pics from the year, there were 14 photographers represented, likely the highest total for any of my year-end collections in the decade-plus Coupeville Sports has been around.

To them, I say thank you. This wouldn’t be the same without you.

Let the Wolves howl. (Photos by JohnsPhotos.net)

They made some noise.

On and off the court.

The Coupeville High School boys basketball team kept its perfect season alive Thursday, routing visiting La Conner to win the program’s first district title since 1970.

The Wolves, a sterling 16-0, are now off to the state tourney for the first time since 1988, but first they celebrated.

Capturing the postgame revelry, and some action from the jam-packed stands, photographer John Fisken offers up the pics seen above and below.

To see everything celebration-related the Diet Coke-fueled paparazzi snapped, pop over to the link below, where the photos are free to download this time around.

Gravity has no hold on Alex Murdy. (Jackie Saia photos)

Jackie Saia is the superwoman of Coupeville athletics.

A teacher and Wolf mom, she also clicks a steady stream of photos for the CHS yearbook, which she oversees.

Plus, she lets me use said photos for free, which makes her a saint.

The pics above and below, which come to us courtesy one of the hardest-working women in Central Whidbey, capture Wolf boys basketball beating Mount Vernon Christian last week.

Bask in the afterglow.

Miles Davidson (in black) and Logan Martin multitask.

Sage Downes swoops and scoops.

Mikey Robinett stays hydrated (and camera-ready).

Xavier Murdy dances a basketball ballet.

The Wolf bench gets excited.

Daniel Olson whispers, “Take a picture, it’ll last longer,” then banks home a runner.

When you just made Mount Vernon Christian cry sweet, sweet tears.

It was a special day.

Friday, Apr. 29, 2016 will go down as a milestone in Coupeville High School sports history, with the baseball squad clinching its first league title in 25 years.

A 10-0 win over visiting Port Townsend set the stage, and then Wolf moms popped the corks on bottles of sparkling cider, chasing their sons around in the celebration.

Along for the ride were photographers Sylvia Hurlburt and John Fisken, who captured some of the in-game and after-game action for us.
