Undefeated and it feels so good.

Coupeville Middle School eighth grader Lindsey Roberts has been flawless in individual track events this season, and nothing changed Thursday in Langley.

Winning all three solo events she participated in — 200, 1600 and the 100 hurdles — she capped a 13-0 regular season.

Now she and her CMS teammates will head to the two-day Cascade League Championships at King’s June 1 and 3.

Roberts and a large pack of Wolves will still have the taste of victory on their lips, having captured wins during their season finale.

Emma Smith (shot put, discus), Chris Battaglia (discus, high jump), Danny Conlisk (200, 1600) and Gabe Eck (200, long jump) were all double winners.

Tia Wurzrainer (800), Ja’Tarya Hoskins (high jump), Jean Lund-Olsen (110 hurdles), Gabe Carlson (long jump), Megan Thorn (high jump), Mason Grove (high jump) and Jaylen Nitta (800) also reached the top of the medal stand.

More like great day.

Closing their season in style, the Coupeville Middle School football squad savaged host Sultan 46-0 Thursday, avenging an earlier season loss to the Turks.

The first time the two schools met, it was much different.

“The last time we met Sultan it was our first and only home game, most players had less than 24 hours of football under their belts and we were beat; it wasn’t pretty,” said CMS coach Bob Martin. “This time the story was a bit different.

“Our young men practiced six days a week, conditioned just about every day, and showed Sultan the results of what hard work and dedication can accomplish,” he added. “It was a good day.”

Coupeville came out ready to rumble, stripping the ball away from Sultan on the opening kickoff.

One play later, the Wolves scored their first touchdown and the rout was on.

“Our offense and defense were very solid; we scored on almost every possession and limited them to no more than five first downs,” Martin said. “It was a total team effort, everyone knew what their responsibilities were and did it.”

Chris Battaglia closed out a stellar eighth grade season by rumbling for 265 yards on the ground, while Teo Keilwitz (50-yard TD) and Sean Toomey-Stout (20-yard pick six) both chipped in with game-busting plays.

The Wolf defense hit Sultan from every side, and always with intensity.

Toomey-Stout (seven tackles), Keilwitz (6), Koa Davison (5), Jaushon Clay (5), Jake Pease (4) and Battaglia (4 tackles, 3 assists) all made an impact.

Granite fell.

Led by a pounding ground game in which Chris Battaglia ran for 175 yards and three touchdowns, the Coupeville Middle School football squad hit the road Wednesday and came away with a resounding 27-8 win at Granite Falls.

“Great night for the boys in Granite Falls,” said CMS coach Bob Martin. “The first half was close, but the boys came back in the second and aside from a few penalties, played a great game.”

While Battaglia was the star (“he was unstoppable tonight”), Martin gave big props to the Wolf offensive line and assistant coach Ron Wright, who mixed things up and gave his young guns an edge.

Working behind a line that refused to budge or crack, Coupeville had time to pull off a string of spectacular plays.

The Wolves picked off several passes, successfully pulled off a two-point conversion after a touchdown and pulled off two fakes. The first one, on a fake punt, turned into a touchdown run.

“It was a pretty exciting game,” Martin said.

Battaglia’s rushing efforts were backed up by Sean Toomey-Stout, who tacked on an additional 20 yards and a touchdown on the ground, and Teo Keilwitz, who picked up 18 more.

Wolf QB Shane Losey netted 26 yards passing to keep Granite Falls honest. Luke Martin hauled in the longest reception of the afternoon, a 12-yard bomb.

Coupeville’s defense was remarkably balanced, with Toomey-Stout leading the way with seven tackles, an assist and an interception. Losey also made off with a pick.

Battaglia (five tackles, three assists), Jake Pease (four tackles, three assists), Jaushon Clay (two tackles, two assists) and Seth David (two tackles, two assists) all chipped in with strong play.

Rounding out the team-wide tackling trend were Losey (two tackles, two assists), Keilwitz (two tackles, one assist), Gavin Knoblich (two tackles, one assist), Matt Stevens (one tackle, four assists), Trevor Bell (one tackle, three assists), Logan Turner (one tackle, one assist) and Koa Davison (one tackle).
