Nastali slides into action.

The enthusiasm fairly bubbles out of Heather Nastali.

The Coupeville High School sophomore, who celebrates a birthday today, was seemingly born to be a cheerleader.

One of two sports she’s lettered in (Nastali is also a key member of the CHS softball team), cheer gives the soft-spoken young woman a chance to get loud ‘n proud, kick-starting the pro-Wolf crowd.

She’s adapted quickly to the cheer game and become an integral part of the squad.

Over the past year, even the fans in the stands have been able to see her confidence grow with each game, whether it be cheer or softball.

Heather always comes across as a smart, very friendly young woman who is deeply committed to everything she does.

That shows in her interactions with her large, fun-loving family, and in her daily dealings with her teammates.

As she hits a major cake day, the future is wide open for Nastali.

A hard worker and a genuinely sweet person, Heather deserves all the accolades and all of our support.

So, Miss Nastali, I hope your birthday is a great one, and I, along with all the other fans out there, look forward to seeing you continue to awe and amaze us.

Playing under summer-like conditions (anyone remember a few games back when the diamond was nailed by a winter windstorm?), the Coupeville High School softball squad brought their A-game Tuesday.

That carried over to their photo skills, where, as usual, they made superb targets for wanderin’ camera man John Fisken.

Heather Nastali was one of 10 letter winners.

Want to help one of Coupeville’s best and brightest?

Then now’s a great time, as Wolf sophomore Heather Nastali needs a little financial bump to reach an important goal.

Nastali, who’s a cheerleader and softball slugger at CHS, has been raising money for summer cheer camp.

She’s raised half the $400 she needs by mowing lawns, weeding gardens and taking care of people’s pets.

Now, as she closes in on her goal of joining her teammates, Nastali has started a GoFundMe page to get up over the top.

The camp, put on by the United Cheer Association, teachers high school cheerleaders new routines and cheers, with an emphasis on preaching safety when stunting.

Nastali will be in her second year on the Wolf cheer squad, but this would be her first chance to attend summer camp with the team.

She has two weeks to raise the remainder of the money, as it has to be turned in by May 1.
