pit

The pit o’ dreams.

School may be out, but work continues.

Crews are deep into installing a new track oval at Mickey Clark Field, as the days count down towards the start of a new CHS football season.

The old track was ripped away, the stands dismantled and the press box destroyed, and, day by day, the new running surface gets closer to a reality.

These latest photos come to us courtesy John Fisken, who haunts the joint still.

It’s still very much mid-summer, even if the Whidbey weather doesn’t always seem like it.

But, even with that said, it’s only six weeks until the Coupeville High School football squad kicks off the 2016-2017 prep sports season with a Sept. 2 home showdown versus South Whidbey.

Putting in work to get ready, the Wolves faced off with Lakeside in a 7 on 7 scrimmage at Camp Casey Friday night, and wanderin’ paparazzi John Fisken was nice enough to swing by and snap these pics for us.

They walk the walk, talk the talk and scrub the cars.

Intent on getting home and away uniforms for next season, Coupeville High School softball players hit the pavement at Whidbey Island Bank Saturday to hold a fundraiser car wash.

Wandering paparazzi John Fisken was in the vicinity and was nice enough to swing by and snap the pics above, which capture the Wolf sluggers hard at work and hard at goofing off.

Central Whidbey’s Yellow Jackets, repping their new All-Star uniforms.

The stakes are higher and the photos are snazzier.

Kicking off All-Star play Tuesday night, Central Whidbey Little League’s Minors softball squad battled until the end in a narrow 7-4 loss to visiting Sedro-Woolley.

The first of a best-of-three series, the early evening battle drew the lens of wanderin’ paparazzi John Fisken, who delivers the photos above.

Bargains, bargains as far as the eye can see.

Tomorrow is D-Day.

The Coupeville Lions 37th annual garage sale extravaganza takes over S. Main St. this weekend.

That means two days of mass hordes of people descending on Coupeville Elementary School in pursuit of bargains.

The sale, which is the biggest fundraiser for the organization, is built on year-round donations.

Doors open Saturday from 9 AM-4 PM, then day two unfolds Sunday 9-1.

The photos above, which showcase just a bit of the massive amount of goodies waiting to be plundered, come to us courtesy wanderin’ photo man John Fisken.
