“Rumor is, I have a lovely beef stroganoff at home, and it’s gonna taste a lot better if you stop dinkin’ around and get me some runs!!”

“Ooh, I dare you to run!!”

And the runner was never, ever seen again…

Now this, this was baseball weather.

The rain and the sand storms were absent Wednesday, allowing the Wolf baseball squads a beautiful, balmy afternoon in which to thrash visiting Concrete.

With nothing flying at his lens, travelin’ photo man John Fisken had plenty of time to snap some pics. Above are eight of them.

Soccer is still in season! We promise!!

“Onward!” Joel Walstad leads the charge.

A month is a long time.

But that’s almost how much time will pass between home games this season for the Coupeville High School boys’ soccer squad.

A variety of things have affected the schedule, but the last time the Wolf booters stepped on their home pitch against a real live foe was Mar. 28, when they routed Forks.

The next time CHS will play at home?

April 23, when Chimacum comes to Whidbey for an Olympic League game.

It was not the springiest of spring days.

But even as the prairie was lashed by a ferocious wind storm Friday, the CHS baseball squad played on and travelin’ photo man John Fisken clicked away to capture the on-field activity.

A sunny day in the spring?

Hard to believe, but it was true Tuesday, as a rain-soaked season gave way to balmy skies and a big Coupeville High School softball win.

As the Wolves smacked Concrete’s pitching around in a 9-7 win, travelin’ photo man John Fisken worked the perimeter, clicking away.

We’re back to action today.

The slowdown of games caused by spring break, rain and the vagaries of schedule-making takes a break today, with CHS softball hosting Concrete (first pitch 4 PM).

Friday gives us baseball and softball (La Conner will be in town) and, after that, there’s something nearly every day the rest of spring.

As we swing back into action, our intrepid photographers, Shelli Trumbull and John Fisken, offer a look at some of the faces of Wolf sports.

With tennis and soccer, we have pics of (almost) all the players — booter Abraham Leyva was taking a nap and netter Mckenzie Meyer was out of town, so there’s at least two who are missing.

With softball, track and baseball, those group collections may still be coming, but, for the moment, here’s a mix of action and at-rest shots to tide you over.
