They play under Friday Night Lights, but get their portraits published on a Sunday.

The pics above and below capture a cross section of players from this year’s Coupeville High School gridiron squad.

The Wolves, who traveled to Leavenworth Friday only to be denied by wildfire smoke, are sitting pretty at 5-1, the program’s best mark in years.

Next up is La Conner, which arrives on Whidbey Oct. 21 on what will be Coupeville’s Senior Night.

Win that game — and the Wolves beat the Braves 46-0 first time around — and CHS football clinches at least a share of its first league title since 1990.

Wolf Nation represented.

Tuesday night the Coupeville High School volleyball teams put on a Dig Pink Night to raise money and awareness in the fight against breast cancer, and it was a success on all fronts.

The Wolves raised $940 for the Whidbey Health Foundation, thanks to ticket sales for raffle items.

Plus, both CHS spiker squads romped to straight-sets victories over visiting Concrete, with a raucous student section and the Wolf cheer squad combining to raise the roof.

High school basketball starts Wednesday, Dec. 1 in Coupeville with a home doubleheader.

The Wolf boys welcome Oak Harbor to town, while the CHS girls square off with Granite Falls.

The girls varsity plays at 5:15 PM in the high school gym, with JV tipping off at 7 PM across the hallway in the middle school gym.

Meanwhile, the Wolf boys operate in reverse, with JV at 5:15, and varsity at 7 PM.

With an ongoing pandemic, all fans are required to wear masks at games this season.

It was then Leonard realized this was reality, and not a dream. He was naked, and everyone in the stadium was looking right at him.
