They’ll be back for the playoffs.

Coupeville High School basketball ends the regular season Tuesday on the road in La Conner, but the Wolf boys’ varsity is guaranteed a return trip to its own gym for the postseason.

That means the CHS cheer squad will be in action as well.

As the Wolf spirit leaders prep for the postseason, take a moment to reflect back on some of what they have accomplished recently, courtesy a photo essay.

“My aunt is better than your aunt!” (Photos by JohnsPhotos.net)

Babies, cheerleaders, and hoops fans.

All united by the ability to generate great noise and passion, a love of Wolf basketball, and a willingness to let wandering photographers snap their pics.

Oh, and they also all bring in tons o’ page hits, so they’re basically gold, Jerry, gold.

Nick Guay, having a really good hair day. (Photos by JohnsPhotos.net)

“Eh, it’s OK, but man Lyla, when I was his age, my hair was straight fire!!” “Daaaaaaaadddd…”

John Fisken may be obsessed with Nick Guay.

Just sayin’…

The wanderin’ photo clicker captured a whole bunch of pics featuring the lanky Coupeville High School senior Tuesday as he helped lead the Wolves in thrashing South Whidbey.

Maybe it’s Guay’s mad hoops skills.

Or maybe it’s his photo-ready mane of hair, practically begging to sign its own contract with L’Oreal’s men’s division.

I mean, if they made a biography of Guay, would they take the title of Kevin Bacon’s 1994 hoops flick, add an H and make it “The Hair Up There?”

Yes, yes, I’ll see myself out now.

“Fire in the hole!”

“Sweet mama!! My tender vittles!!”

“This hurts a lot less than the last play…”

Off to conquer new worlds (and book that shampoo ad).

But first, a smile of approval from mom Dina (left).

Wolf cheerleaders, ready to rock the joint. (Jennifer Morrell photos)

“I can’t wait to see what the future holds for these amazing humans!”

While her squad narrowly missed out on punching its ticket to the state meet, Coupeville High School cheer coach Jennifer Morrell was still pumped Saturday.

The Wolves, who recently returned to being a competition squad as well as a sideline one, wrapped their season at Tahoma High School in the Last Chance Qualifier.

Coupeville showed up and showed out on the blue mats, as they have done each time out.

“We showcased the routine last night and are already planning next year’s routine!” Morrell said.

“They learned and grew so much this season.”

Spending their Saturday on the big stage.

As they move forward, the Wolves are also celebrating donations which will enable them to purchase some of their own mats.

With help from the Arts and Crafts Association in particular, CHS cheer has been able to obtain five of the nine panels needed to give it a complete set.

And it’s never too late to help out.

If you’re interested in donating to the cause, contact Wolf cheer at jmorrell@coupeville.k12.wa.us.

I saw your face in the usual place.

Winter brings ’em out to the gym, which is where the paparazzi lay in wait, camera at the ready.

The pics above and below, which come to us courtesy John Fisken, offer a snapshot look at the off-court action at a typical Coupeville High School basketball game.
