The Wolf bench sizzles in the afternoon sun.

Speedy Coupeville track star Mallory Kortuem, momentarily at rest.

“They said it was a friendly…”

Josh Robinson stalks the pitch, a man on a mission.

Derek Leyva, having broken the CHS boys soccer single-season scoring record in his last game, takes a moment to dance with the ball.

Wolf soccer captains Sage Renninger (left) and Lauren Bayne came out to support their male counterparts.

Hunter Downes slices ‘n dices his way through the Wildcats.

From nothing, something.

Coupeville and Oak Harbor threw together a JV soccer game at the last second, partially as a way for the Wolves to get a feel for playing on turf prior to kicking off the playoffs.

With CHS only having a handful of true second-team players, the Wolves tossed in a mix of varsity players for Wednesday’s “friendly,” and no stats were kept.

That didn’t keep ever-wandering photo whiz kid John Fisken from sliding by the pitch to fire off a few hundred shots, however, and a collection of his work can be seen above.

Kameryn St Onge rips winners, every dang day.

A South Whidbey player on Coupeville Sports???? In this case, it’s the brilliant Oliana Stange, so we’ll make an exception.

Fab frosh Genna Wright lashes a scorching winner.

Zara Bradley goes low to destroy the heart, soul and psyche of her foes with a wicked, unexpected shot.

You want intensity, hit the tennis courts.

While the young women who swing the rackets are generally some of the most easy-going, polite people you will find, put them between the lines and they become cold-blooded assassins.

That’s shown in the pics above, which were shot Wednesday by local paparazzi John Fisken.

And, when you head that way, remember, purchases help fund college scholarships for CHS student/athletes (plus they make grandma happy).

Joey Lippo is too fast for mere mortals to catch.

Wolf baseball fans (l to r) Sylvia Hurlburt, Maya Toomey-Stout and Charlotte Young are all smiles as their team rolls to another win.

Scout Smith drops some interpretive dance moves into the post-game celebration.

Jake Pease gets ready to grip it and rip it.

CHS groundskeeper Mike Lodell tries not to get emotional as he gazes out onto his pristine softball field.

Jake Hoagland has a need, a need for speed.

As her team gets ready to celebrate its league title, Veronica Crownover (14) looks back at dad Darren, who is screaming like a wild man off camera.

It was a party on the prairie.

The rain stayed away Friday, both the Coupeville High School softball and baseball squads thrashed visiting Klahowya, and wanderin’ photo bug John Fisken was merrily clickin’ away.

The pics above are courtesy him.

Mallory Kortuem just wants to eat her salad in peace, and yet, everywhere she goes, there’s the stinkin’ paparazzi.

Ryan Labrador gets medieval on the shot put.

Emma Smith (left) and Lindsey Roberts enjoy the 12,389th ferry ride of their high school athletic careers.

Lauren Bayne drops from the heavens, clearing the high jump bar with ease.

After battling with the word’s most unreliable sports stats site, Wolf coach Bob Martin whispers, “I will see you in Hell, athletic.net!!”

Wolf speedsters (l to r) Lucy Sandahl, Natalie Hollrigel and Maya Toomey-Stout slow down long enough for the camera to catch their images.

Cameron Toomey-Stout is comin’ at you.

He’s here, he’s there, he’s everywhere.

Wanderin’ photo bug John Fisken surprised everyone by heading off-Island Wednesday and ending up at a track meet in Sequim.

Coupeville was on site for the four-team rumble, which was what lured the lens master to the mainland, and the pics seen above are courtesy him.

Zara Bradley rips a winner. (Photos by JohnPhotos.net)

It was at that moment the tennis ball realized Heather Nastali meant to inflict some serious damage.

Making a play for the lucrative overseas market, I drop in a photo of North Kitsap’s Anna Bronchal, who hails from Valencia, Spain.

Jillian Mayne sends a ball airborne.

Claire Mietus (left) breaks down the strategy of the game for her curb mate.

Megan Behan swings into action.

The courts were back in action.

After a two-week pause, the Coupeville High School girls tennis squad finally returned Monday, facing North Kitsap in a David vs. Goliath battle.

While the Wolves were unable to topple the Vikings, who are 56-2 over the past five seasons, simply having a chance to wield a racket again was a win.

Plus, it gave photo bug John Fisken a chance to swing by and snap a bunch of pics, some of which he shares with us above.
