Rainy day, sunny portraits!!

Everyone gets their portrait taken, but there’s no promise in what order they’ll run.

At the start of every sports season, photo whiz kid John Fisken clicks away merrily, recording each Wolf who shows up on Photo Day, then he’s nice enough to shoot them my way for use during the season.

As the games play out, a lot of the photos are used, though some get bumped as game action shots start to roll in.

I like to make sure all the portraits hit the internet at some point, though.

So, as we wade through a fairly quiet week (high school finals are keeping CHS players out of competition from Sunday to Thursday), here’s eight, which, for whatever reason, haven’t seen the light of day yet.

A legend in every seat!!

   Sherry Roberts, a basketball star of the late ’80s, hangs out with the next big thing in Wolf Nation, son Landon.

It ain’t a thing without that swing.

   Speedy shutterbug Maya Toomey-Stout snaps away as the action unfolds a few inches away.

Jordan Ford 1, Sherry Roberts 0. Rest assured, payback will be swift and deadly.

   A superstar in every seat, as the living legends return to their alma mater to be honored.

   Wolf mom Kali Barrio and daughter Jennifer Bergeron cheer on their favorite hoops star, son/brother Ethan Spark.

   Young gun Daniel Olson takes the sticks, as drumming veterans Sean Toomey-Stout (left) and Ben Olson prepare to give him grief (or a Wet Willie).

You can go home again.

Coupeville High School celebrated the 101st anniversary of its boys basketball program Friday, and there was a legend in every seat.

The superstars of the ’70s crossed paths with guys who want to match their achievements in the coming years, and fans of every age showed up to watch it all go down.

Travelin’ photo man John Fisken was there as well, though he was working, snapping pics all night long.

   Spying an opening, Kyla Briscoe slashes to the hoop, leaving a hapless defender sprawled on the floor behind her.

The always calm and cool Tia Wurzrainer puts the steady in steady-cam.

Mollie Bailey eyes the defense with an eagle eye.

   Feeling the heat coming up behind her, Chelsea Prescott looks for an open teammate.

   Sophomore sensation Hannah Davidson hangs out with the president of her fan club.

The sound of basketballs bouncing, sneakers squeaking and cameras clicking washes over the prairie.

Coupeville is deep in to its hoops season, with Klahowya visiting Cow Town Tuesday to face the Wolf girls.

Shutterbug John Fisken popped his head into the CHS gym for a bit, and snagged a collection of shots from both the varsity and JV games.

Whidbey Island’s main photo bug was off to the mainland Saturday for a shopping spree, and, on the way back, he veered off to Sultan to track down Coupeville’s boys basketball squads.

Venturing to Turk territory, camera in hand, Fisken snagged pics of the Wolf varsity, JV and (in their debut) C-Team and he provides us with the photos seen above.
