International superstar Mckenzie Meyer, on her way to rule the world.

The CHS tennis squad, small in numbers, big in talent.

John Fisken was a busy man Tuesday afternoon.

With multiple sporting events to hit in two towns, the intrepid photographer had little time to waste.

Get in, click, and get out, was his mantra.

Thankfully for us, before hitting the wild smorgasbord of events going down in Oak Harbor, he swung by the Coupeville High School tennis courts to catch the season opener.

The photos above are courtesy him.

Best way to repay him? Pop over to his site and purchase a glossy pic or two.

It’ll make grandma happy when she gets a photo of the grandchild, and it’ll make Fisken even more likely to return to Cow Town.

Plus, a percentage of each purchase comes back via college scholarships for CHS student/athletes, so, circle of life and all.

New coaches, same hunt for excellence.

Former Coupeville High School cheerleaders Emily (Norris) Stevens and Amanda (Streubel) Jones have returned to their alma mater to reinvigorate the cheer program of their teen years.

The duo replace the departed Cheridan Eck, and are hard at work as fall sports practice officially begins.

Stevens, the head coach, has 21 girls on a tentative roster, though that may change as the Wolves work towards the football season opener Sept. 1.

Seniors Claire Mietus and Mckenzie Meyer, both veterans, lead the way.

“The cheer team is going to stop being influenced by the stereotype that “We’re Coupeville,” Mietus said. “We want to have pride in our squad as well as ourselves and not have our actions defined by others expectations.”

The current roster (which is still in flux):

Jessica Acosta
Ashleigh Battaglia
Julie Bucio
Kayla Caudle
Coral Caveness
Maggie Crimmins
Kaley Grigsby
Gaby Halpin
Abby Hamilton
Ja’Tarya Hoskins
Isabel Hucke
Nanci Melendrez
Mckenzie Meyer
Claire Mietus
Mira Mostafavinassab
Heather Nastali
Abby Parker
Moira Reed

Cary Grant is nowhere to be found, but the current generation of actors are ready for their close-up.

Taking on a play which inspired a classic film starring Mr. Grant, the Coupeville Wolf PAC Theatre Troupe is prepared to tackle Arsenic and Old Lace.

The play, which sprang from the mind of Joseph Kesserling, runs the first two weekends in March.

Show times are 7 PM Mar. 3-4 and 10-11 in the Performing Arts Center at Coupeville High School.

Arsenic and Old Lace is a classic story about two little old ladies who harbor a secret beneath their “charming and innocent” exterior — they’re stashing bodies in the cellar.

Toss in the antics of their nephews, one of whom thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt, and things get wild ‘n woolly.

CHS Troupe Members involved in the production include:

Jakobi Baumann as Officer O’Hara
Jaschon Baumann as Officer Klein
Desirae Bradley as Martha Brewster
Robin Cedillo
(stage manager)
Bree Daigneault
as Abby Brewster
Seth Hedges
as Mr. Witherspoon
Ja’Tarya Hoskins
(props master)
Tiger Johnson
(booth wizard)
Christian King
as the Rev. Dr. Harper
Nikolai Lyngra
as Mortimer Brewster
McKenzie Meyer
as Elaine Harper
Tamika Nastali

Elaira Nicolle

(booth wizard)
Marenna Rebischke-Smith
as Lieutenant Rooney
Madison Rixe
as Dr. Einstein
Helen Sinclair
as Officer Brophy
Dexter Thorn
as Mr. Spenalzo
