Big spikes, big bucks

The spikers scored big, two ways.

Coupeville High School volleyball hosted its annual Dig Pink night last Thursday, with both the varsity and JV knocking off visiting La Conner on the court.

Now, Wolf coaches have revealed the cancer awareness event generated $1,420, with the proceeds earmarked to go to the WhidbeyHealth Foundation.

Coupeville’s net crew returns to action Thursday, Oct. 24 with a road trip to Concrete.

The Wolf varsity is a pristine 10-0 on the season, and a win against the Lions will clinch the Northwest 2B/1B League title and give the 2024 squad the best start in program history.

Meanwhile, the JV spikers aren’t too far off their varsity counterparts, boasting an 8-1 mark this season.

Honor a veteran, support a Wolf

They’ve set big goals.

Coupeville Middle and High School students are participating in a fundraiser which will raise money for student enrichment activities while honoring military veterans.

The fundraiser runs from Sept. 26-Oct. 10, with the goal for each student to sell four Honor-a-Vet or Sign-of-Support poster boards.

The more each student sells, the higher on the prize chart they go.

Overall, the school is aiming at bringing in $25,000.

The Honor-A-Vet poster boards will be displayed on the CMHS lawn the week of Veteran’s Day.

Meanwhile, the Sign-Of-Support, featuring a picture of your choosing, will be displayed throughout the hallways of the school all year long.

Cheerleader car wash set for Saturday

Want to bring the sparkle and shine back into your life?

Swing by Ebey Academy this Saturday, Sept. 28 between 10:00 AM-2:00 PM, and let the Coupeville High School cheerleaders wash your ride.

The car wash fundraiser will help the Spirit of Cheer Booster Club purchase safety equipment and spirit gear, as well as provide scholarships.

Suggested donation is $15 for a full car wash, and Ebey Academy is located at 140 SE Terry Rd.

Booster Club’s big night on the way

Clear your calendar.

The Coupeville Booster Club has set its annual dinner and auction for Saturday, Nov. 2.

The biggest fundraiser of the year, it will be held at the Coupeville Rec Hall, which is located at 901 NW Alexander Street.

Doors open at 4:30 PM with a silent auction starting at the same time.

Dinner, prepared by Serendipity Catering and Events, is set for 6:00, with a dessert auction at 6:30 and a live auction at 7:00.

There will also be raffles throughout the night.

Cost is $55 per person, or you can nab a table for eight people for $400.

Booster Club board members — Danette Beckley, Jon Roberts, Bob Martin, Dina Guay, Leann Leavitt, Michelle Armstrong, Gordon McMillan, and Garrett Arnold — will have tickets for those looking to buy.

Pickleball tourney benefits teachers, students

Pick up a paddle and help support local students and teachers.

The Community Foundation for Coupeville Public Schools is hosting a pickleball fundraiser Oct. 19 at the CHS gym, with the proceeds going to help the group’s work in the classroom.

The foundation provides enrichment grants for teachers and scholarships for teachers, as well as funding the Promise Fund, which supports equity in education.

Whether you’re a pickleball pro or have never played, all skill levels are welcome.

“This is a social, a fundraiser, and a chance to get a little exercise while benefitting a great non-profit organization!” event organizer James Steller said. “We want everyone to have fun.”

There will be a category for people who consider themselves beginners or novices, with another category for those who “think they are a bit better or just OK.”

Each category is limited to 24 players, forming 12 teams.

The event will feature a round robin format, with 3-5 games guaranteed depending on how many people show up.

Lunch, snacks, and drinks will be sold, with a raffle and door prizes as well.

Don’t want to take the court yourself? You can still donate to the cause.
