It was the end, but not the end.

Monday marked Senior Night for six Coupeville High School baseball players, the final time they played a regular season game on their home field.

But, after two road games to cap things, the Wolves will be back to Robert Sherman Field May 9 for a home playoff game.

That will be the real swan song for Taylor Consford, Clay Reilly, Aiden Crimmins, Ethan Marx, Kory Score and Jonathan Thurston.

Postseason ball is about making a run at a state title, though, and Monday was about CHS coach Chris Smith having a chance to publicly praise his guys in front of friends, family and fans.

It was also a chance for local paparazzi John Fisken to snap some glossy pics to commemorate the moment.

Sweet swings on a spring night!!

“A mile high, in the dirt, no pitch gets past me!”

  Rockin’ the electric green unis, Central Whidbey hitters were swinging big sticks.

“Taste sweet death, fool!!!”

Winner, winner, Dairy Queen dinner.

   Landon Roberts makes a bid to steal big sister Lindsey’s athletic spotlight. Word of advice, though — come for the queen, better not miss.

Central Whidbey ruled the little league world for a night.

Both Coupeville’s Minors softball and baseball teams pulled off home wins Friday, 12-11 and 15-3 respectively, while paparazzi John Fisken was on hand to nab photos of all the action.

It’s a swing and a smile!!

The run had to end.

After playing back-to-back days Monday and Tuesday, rain finally caught up with the Coupeville High School girls tennis squad Wednesday, as a trip to Langley was waved off at the last second.

To make sure you don’t go into sugar shock at not having a sweet tennis story for the third consecutive day, I offer up some snazzy John Fisken pics from Tuesday’s tilt with Chimacum.

Monday brought the season’s second official home track meet to Cow Town, and all the noise and activity lured in the paparazzi as well.

John Fisken was on hand to snag action pics, but also swung his camera around to capture some behind-the-scenes moments as well.

Let’s not dwell on it…

We’re gonna keep this short and sweet.

Sort of the opposite of the game itself.

Unable to muster a hit against a more experienced South Whidbey squad, the Coupeville High School JV baseball team fell hard Monday afternoon.

The 13-0 loss, which drops the Wolves to 2-6 on the season, went on for quite awhile without much good happening for the guys in red and black.

“One of those games where it’s about learning … cause you hope they learn,” said CHS coach Mike Etzell.

With the Wolf varsity off-Island playing a league game, Coupeville had a straight-up JV squad on the field, while the Falcons, whose varsity was idle, were able to use some swing players.

It showed at times as South Whidbey wielded heavy bats and, other than a few walks here and there, thoroughly dominated.

Coupeville did get seven runners on, mustering six walks and a fly ball from Shane Losey which was dropped for an error.

Jacob Zettle and Kyle Rockwell led the way, with two walks apiece, while Ulrik Wells and James Vidoni also eked out free passes.

Coupeville used three pitchers, with Elliott Johnson, Jake Pease and Gavin Knoblich all seeing mound time.

If nothing else, it was live game action, always preferable to practice, and the sun was out the entire afternoon.

And that’s about all I have to say about that.
