It’s the calm before the storm.

Less than 24 hours from now, the 2018-2019 high school basketball season officially kicks off, with Meridian traveling to Coupeville Tuesday for a girls basketball rumble.

The Wolf boys take the court the next night, hosting Oak Harbor, and the next few months will be jam-packed with hoops action (and the vocal support of the CHS cheer squad).

As the minutes tick down until the first tip of the season, local paparazzi John Fisken swings by to drop off a collection of winter sports portraits.

Sort of a photographic amuse-bouche, as it were.

A new season is upon us.

The arrival of winter sports becomes a reality with the team pics jumping out of the camera of wanderin’ paparazzi John Fisken.

From basketball to cheer and back to much more basketball, Coupeville is primed for the start of actual games, which start this coming Tuesday.

The Wolf girls are at home versus Meridian that night, followed by the CHS boys at home Wednesday against Oak Harbor.

The first week of action wraps Saturday with a home doubleheader against Bush.

A new season means new portraits.

Wanderin’ camera clicker John Fisken was out and about, and snapping away, this week as Coupeville Middle School boys basketball kicked things off.

The mug shots seen above are but a small portion of what he shot, but to see everything, you’ll have to return to these pages as the season unfolds.

Can’t give away the whole store right at the start.

Basketball has returned to Coupeville, and Monday’s middle school opener brought out a large crowd of fans and a handful of those working for their suppers.

One of the latter was paparazzi to the stars John Fisken, who worked every angle of the court, firing away with an assortment of cameras.

The pics seen above are but a small taste, however.
