The hunt is on.

As we enter April, the ebb and flow of high school track continues, with top times, heights, and distances being tossed on to the leader board.

The state meet isn’t until the end of May, but this is prime time to flash your credentials and, thanks to athletic.net, make sure the entire state knows what you’re up to.

A scan of the 2B leaders shows a number of Coupeville athletes present, with freshmen Lyla Stuurmans and seniors Logan Martin and Caleb Meyer currently ranked #2 in their classification in at least one event.

Catherine Lhamon is the only CHS cross country runner ranked in the Top 50 at the league, district and state level. (Photos by JohnsPhotos.net)

Catherine Lhamon waits for no one.

The Coupeville High School sophomore is in just her first year of running cross country, but she’s already making inroads on being one of the best the state has to offer.

With one regular-season meet left on the schedule – this Thursday at King’s — Lhamon is the only Wolf to be currently ranked in the top 50 at the league, district and state level.

Teammates Danny Conlisk and Alana Mihill hit the first two of those criteria, while Sam Wynn is among the best in the North Sound Conference.

Where Coupeville’s top runners stand in 5,000 meter races as we wind our way towards the postseason:

GIRLS:

Catherine Lhamon (20:35.3) — 6th in league; 7th in District 1; 44th in 1A
Alana Mihill (23:54.4) — 17th in league; 37th in District 1

Sylvia

Sylvia Hurlburt, quick with the feet, quick with the sarcasm.

Two meets are in the books, and the Wolves are already hitting top times.

Coupeville High School’s track and field squad currently has six individuals and two relay teams in the top 10 in their events among 1A competitors.

Leading the way is the girls 4 x 100 relay unit of Lauren Grove, Sylvia Hurlburt, Lindsey Roberts and Makana Stone.

In their one outing, they broke the tape in 52.42 seconds, which is good for second-best in 1A behind a fearsome foursome from Lynden Christian.

Other Wolves currently in the top 10 in their events:

Sylvia Hurlburt — 10th in the 200 (28.02)

Lindsey Roberts — 8th in the 100 Hurdles (17.76)

Abby Parker — 2nd in the 1500 (6:15.98)

Jakobi Baumann — 2nd in the 3000 (12:37.59)

Danny Conlisk — 2nd in the 1500 (4:56.75)

Jordan Ford — 7th in the high jump (5-06)

Gabe Eck, Ford, Jacob Smith, Jared Helmstadter — 7th in 4 x 100 (46.75)

Parker and Conlisk are the only Wolves to currently also sit in the top 10 in their event when you look at all classifications (4A-1B).

Conlisk is 9th in the 1500, while Parker is 7th in the same event.
