Enter a world of adventure this weekend.

The Coupeville High School Theater Troupe presents the coming-of-age drama/comedy She Kills Monsters May 11-13, with the curtain going up each night at 7:00 PM.

The school’s Performing Arts Center opens at 6:30, with tickets $10 for adults, $7 for students without ASB, and $5 for students with ASB.

She Kills Monsters, written by Qui Nguyen, made its debut in 2011.

The story tracks Agnes Evans, a young woman who loses her parents and younger sister in a car accident.

Trying to forge a connection with a sister she was distant from in real life, Agnes plays out a Dungeons and Dragons adventure written by her sibling.

Mixing reality and an imaginary game world, the play allows the living sister to discover secrets about her sister and get a deeper understanding of what her life was like while alive.

“We have worked SO HARD on this production,” said theater director Stefanie Ask.

“This play was a big leap for us, with the need to learn stage combat and swordplay, construct caves, build giant monsters out of paper mache … but it’s turning out great.

“The students have worked so hard, and they’ve put together a performance that is hilarious, adventuresome, and deeply, deeply meaningful,” she added. “They deserve your applause.”

Lucy leads the way.

The Great Northwest Athletic Conference tabbed Seattle Pacific University’s Varsity +4 boat as its Crew of the Week Monday, the third time a Falcon rowing shell has been honored this season.

The women being hailed this time around include Coupeville grad Lucy Sandahl, who is the coxswain for the Falcon V4+ squad.

She and teammates Megan Popielak, Anna Boatman, Megan Rouse, and Bella Lisenby were honored for their performance at this past weekend’s Windermere Cup.

That event, which kicks off boating season in Washington state, went down on the Montlake Cut in Seattle and was hosted by the University of Washington.

Sandahl and her group rank first in the NCAA West Region standings heading into the GNAC Championships May 12-13 in Oregon.

A 2020 graduate from Coupeville High School, Lucy, whose older sister Sophie also rows for SPU, was a standout volleyball and track and field athlete during her days as a Wolf.

Weekends are for driving fast.

Coupeville’s Finley and Scotlyn Helm continue to slam the pedal through the metal as members of the Washington Quarter Midget Association.

With their little brother only a few days away from strapping himself into a car and hitting the gas, the duo continues to shine brightly in the racing world.

They’re building a dynasty here, one lap at a time.

The pit crew discusses strategy.

Off to the playoffs he goes.

Coupeville grad Hawthorne Wolfe and the Western Washington University club baseball squad capped the regular season this past weekend with a three-game sweep of Portland State University.

Rolling to 16-9, 3-0, and 17-3 victories, the Vikings stretch their win streak to six games and get to 19-9 on the season.

Next up is a trip to Nampa, Idaho May 12-14, where WWU joins Oregon, Utah State, and Boise State in the double-elimination Northern Pacific Regional Tournament.

The winner claims one of eight tickets to the National Club Baseball Association Division 1 World Series, held May 26-June 2 in Illinois.

A decade ago, another Coupeville alumni, Jordan Wilcox, hit .313 across four games for WWU at the 2013 World Series.

Seeded #7 in an eight-team field, that edition of the Vikings surprised folks, finishing fourth at the season-ending tourney.

Wolfe, a freshman at Western, scored four runs, eked out three walks, smacked a pair of hits, and made off with a stolen base this weekend while facing off with Portland State.

On the season, the former CHS star has worked primarily as a pitcher, making 10 appearances — most of any WWU hurler — with four starts.

He has racked up 22 strikeouts while on the bump, putting Wolfe second-best among Viking pitchers.

We’re closer to the finish line than the start line.

Only two high school track and field meets remain on the schedule this spring, with the brightest spotlights warming up.

Districts goes down May 13 in Coupeville, with the Wolves hosting, followed by the state championships May 25-27 in Yakima.

As CHS athletes prepare for the stretch run, a look at the 18 girls and boys who currently occupy at least one slot in the top 10 of all 2B students through May 8:
