The games are done, but there’s still a few fall sports pics left to be revealed.

Saturday’s state playoff football game between Coupeville and Onalaska provided shutterbugs plenty of photo ops.

The collection seen here showcases Wolf cheerleaders and was snapped by wanderin’ paparazzi John Fisken.

There’s a new final destination.

After decades of ending the season in Cheney at Eastern Washington University, the 1B/2B/1A state track and field championships are moving to Yakima.

The decision was approved by the executive board of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association at its meeting Sunday, Nov. 13 and announced publicly Wednesday.

The state meet will now be held at Eisenhower High School’s Zaepfel Stadium, which annually hosts one of the region’s biggest track rumbles, the Holder Relays.

The change was not unexpected, as EWU officials previously informed the WIAA that renovations to the school’s football facility would include removal and relocation of its track oval.

Zaepful Stadium has hosted the state meet before, welcoming Class A and B athletes in 1994 and 1995.

The Yakima facility also hosted the 3A meet in 1981 and the Class A championships between 1976-1979.

Zaepful Stadium, named in honor of Yakima’s John Zaepfel, a longtime coach and athletic director, was renovated to the tune of $4.2 million in 2015.

It was a long time coming.

Coupeville High School football reached the state playoffs for the first time since 1990, clashing with Onalaska Saturday at Oak Harbor’s Wildcat Memorial Stadium.

Along for the ride was wanderin’ camera clicker John Fisken, who provides us with the pics seen above and below.

Speak up, embrace health

They want to hear from you.

Island County Public Health has been working with school district nurses on the possibility of adding school-based healthcare access.

Early plans include the possibility of providing sports physicals at schools, as well as injury and concussion care.

While nothing is set in stone, those involved are asking parents in the Coupeville and South Whidbey school districts to take a short survey to help guide their efforts.

The survey is open until Dec. 16 and can be found here:

The cold never bothered them, anyway.

There was a bit of a November nip in the air Saturday as Coupeville hosted Onalaska in a state playoff game, but the temps didn’t keep Wolf fans away.

Instead, they opted for wearing layers, sipping hot drinks, and staying active on the cold metal bleachers at Oak Harbor’s Wildcat Memorial Stadium.
