“Bailey is shooting our game today???? Get out!!!!!!!!” (Bailey Thule photos)

Bailey Thule has a rare talent.

My hot take of the day — there is no photographer working in Coupeville, adult or teen, who can match the work she’s doing right now.

End of story.

Miss Thule may still be a CHS student, and is largely working with school cameras, but she possesses a rare eye and an ability to go far deeper than the surface level with her images.

In the pics above and below, she captures deep, emotional joy and rock-’em, sock-’em competitiveness like few others.

Yearbook advisor Jackie Saia has several very good photographers in her stable — and is quite the photo bug herself — but Bailey is the current gold standard.

I don’t know what her post-high school plans are, but if they involve photography, someone with big bucks should look to back her.

The fact she allows Coupeville Sports to run her pics (for free!) is a blessing.

When (not if) Bailey hits it big, people will look back at this blog and say, “Wow, she was amazing from the start.”

They rain never bothered them anyway.

Coupeville High School’s soccer stars endured the liquid sunshine during recent matches — even when it was coming down in sheets — as did the yearbook photographers stalking the sideline.

That’s a winning attitude all around.

God’s chosen sport rules in any season.

The end of the school year is just around the corner, but basketballs are bouncing in gyms even as temps heat up.

Coupeville High School girls’ hoops coach Megan Richter currently has a squad playing in a 14-team league run by Skagit County Parks and Recreation.

With two squads apiece from basketball hot spots like Lynden, Nooksack Valley and Burlington-Edison, the Wolves rep the smallest school by far.

But playing up will only benefit Richter’s young players.

“We have 10ish players playing; it varies daily,” she said with a laugh.

“It’s a tough league and we are playing with much bigger schools than us,” Richter added.

“We talked about how the important thing to focus on during summer is that we are improving and getting better, and not focus on the wins or losses – even though winning is nice.”

The league runs June 5-28, with Coupeville scheduled to play eight times.

Jackie Saia is on top of her game.

The Coupeville High School teacher and yearbook advisor was out and about recently, snapping pics as the Wolf netters closed out the regular season with a royal rumble against visiting Friday Harbor.

The glossy images seen above and below come to us courtesy of her and are just some of the many she and her students have been nice enough to share with Coupeville Sports readers this school year.

Back to practice for them.

Just as the weather finally flirts with an actual springtime feel, the Coupeville High School girls’ tennis squad finds itself with a hole in the schedule.

The Wolves have a 10-day break between matches, not wielding rackets against another team until May 2, when they travel to Friday Harbor.

Filling the gap (slightly) is this collection of photos, which come to us courtesy Brionna Blouin and John Fisken.
