Tasty treats for Race the Reserve volunteers

Do it for the thrill of competition.

Do it for the glow of being #1.

Do it for the homemade cookies.

But whatever you do it for, just do it.

With Race the Reserve — the biggest fundraiser for the Coupeville High School Class of 2023 — set for Saturday, Aug. 13, organizers are scrambling to field a full team of volunteers.

They’ve launched a competition between Wolf fall sports teams, with the team with the most volunteers nabbing the Golden Shoe Award and a batch of cookies from acclaimed cook Helene Lhamon.

It’s a royal rumble between volleyball, soccer, tennis, cross country, and football, with a tasty finale.

 

Volunteers are currently needed for:

Support Coupeville’s Class of 2023

Just a fraction of the high achievers in the Coupeville Class of 2023.

It could be legendary.

Coupeville High School’s Class of 2023 is currently projecting 93 graduates for next spring, which would be double the average size of recent years.

Before they get to the moment when they walk across the stage at Micky Clark Field to accept their diplomas, Wolf seniors will be at the forefront of athletics and academics at the school this coming year.

In preparation for grad week festivities, Coupeville parents are hard at work raising money to celebrate their students’ accomplishments.

Race the Reserve goes down in August, concession sales will be open at volleyball, football, basketball, and track events during the 2022-2023 school year, and the class has launched a GoFundMe.

Money raised goes to fund a drug and alcohol-free graduation night celebration for the Class of 2023.

Class of ’23 preps for Ragnar Relay

Many hands make light the work.

The runners are coming, and so are the fundraising opportunities.

The annual Ragnar Relay, which sends teams from Blaine to Langley over the course of two days and a night, kicks off today.

As the runners descend like locusts on Whidbey, the Coupeville High School Class of 2023 is taking advantage.

Students, parents, and other volunteers will be selling breakfast to participants, with profits going to post-graduation festivities.

The Class of 2023 is also helping flag traffic in Langley from 1:30-8:30 PM Saturday and is still in need of more volunteers.

Completing that task will garner an $850 donation for the CHS students.

Run for the kids

Registration is open for this year’s edition of Race the Reserve.

The annual running event, which features a 5K, 10K, and half marathon, is set to go down Saturday, Aug. 13.

Or, if you can’t make it to Ebey’s National Historical Reserve that day, you can sign up and run a virtual race at your convenience.

Money raised by the fundraiser goes to support a safe and sober graduation night celebration for the Coupeville High School Class of 2023.
