Opening night was a huge hit.

Coupeville Middle School kicked off its boys’ basketball season Monday with two wins — the 7th graders romped, the 8th graders pulled it out in OT — a full gym and even a roving photographer or two.

While we have yet to see what pics Junior Photo Bomb Queen Mollie Bailey might have snapped (I’m working on it), we can present to you some of John Fisken’s work.

To see more (and possibly purchase some, thereby helping fund college scholarships for CHS student/athletes) pop over to:

BaYNE

Lauren Bayne planned ahead. Now that you’ve eaten turkey for three straight days, you’d pay extra for some crab legs, wouldn’t you?

So, it’s the day after the day after Thanksgiving, that time when you look in the frig and are like, “What? There are still leftovers in there?!?!”

You’re like, “Well, they’ve been in there for some time and they’re all stuck together…” and then you dive in and eat them all. You just do.

While I don’t have that 23rd slice of pie or the bite or two of cranberry sauce that got wedged in under the stuffing to offer, I do have some leftover photos.

Last Saturday was the Coupeville Booster Club’s biggest fundraiser event of the season — the annual Crab Feed and Auction — and photo whiz kids John Fisken and Ema Smith were there snapping away.

At the time, we ran photo essays by both of them, but, there were so many photos, we couldn’t use them all.

So now, a week later, I’m clearing out digital space and presenting to you the leftovers.

Just nuke them in the (mental) microwave and enjoy.

Wolf Buddies

Which of these Wolf Buddies will one day be CHS athletic stars themselves? Probably all of them.

There are no more home games.

Well, at least for a few weeks.

Basketball is coming up strong on the outside, but, until then, the remaining fall contests for Coupeville High School are all on the road.

As the Wolf spikers head to Puyallup today for a district playoff game against Cascade Christian and the Coupeville gridiron squad preps for Friday’s finale at Vashon Island, one final look back at the home court advantage.

Wolf fans were loud and proud this fall, and the student section continued to regroup and bloom anew.

Look back in pride, then on to the next season, with the hope that Coupeville will pack the stands for its hoops squads.

The Wolves celebrate the point that clinched a Senior Night win.

The joint was jumpin’.

Second place was at stake Thursday night (spoiler: the Wolves were successful) and fans were well represented at Coupeville High School’s volleyball match.

The student section was loud, passionate and well-choreographed, while a swirl of family, townsfolk and former players moved through the gym.

Sparked by the 20-pack of Diet Coke he was gifted before the game (or exactly 20 more cans than he thought I would give him), travelin’ photo man John Fisken clicked away for us.

His work is above. The Diet Coke was never seen again.

Or, maybe, she’s just watching her classmates go bonkers.

They arrived, in all shapes, sizes and ages.

Wolf fans crammed the bleachers, the sidelines and every nook and cranny at Mickey Clark Field Friday night.

They were there for a football game, for Homecoming festivities and to enjoy a relatively balmy October night under the lights.

Capturing the action, before he skedaddled for Oak Harbor and another football game, was travelin’ photo man John Fisken, who delivers unto us the pics above.

Go, marinate in the pictorial excellence. We’ll talk more later.
