CHS cheer crew celebrated

The final cheer has been sounded.

For the fall season, at least, as Coupeville High School’s spirit squad wrapped things up with an awards banquet Monday night.

Head coach Jennifer Morrell and her support staff honored 22 Wolves with a variety of awards and letters.

The Coupeville High School co-ed soccer squad wrapped its season Thursday with an awards banquet.

Wolf coaches Robert Wood and Kimberly Kisch handed out an assortment of mementos to their booters, who were fighting for a playoff berth right up through the final day of the season.

Wolves hand out gridiron awards

The gear is turned in, and the final page turned.

The Coupeville High School football team capped a successful season Friday with a dessert banquet, handing out awards and letters.

The 2B Wolves went 5-4 while playing five of their nine games against 1A foes.

That included a Homecoming win over Friday Harbor, and a comeback for the ages on the road against Cedar Park Christian-Bothell.

And it’s off to the races.

In contention for a state playoff berth until the final week, Coupeville loses a solid pack of seniors but can return many of their key players next season.

With only two Northwest 2B/1B League schools playing 11-man football — three others play eight-man while two don’t participate at all — coaches opted not to name an All-Conference squad.

But here’s what CHS head man Bennett Richter and his staff handed out:

Harriers hail “a great season”

They’re the fastest to the finish line.

Coupeville High School’s cross country runners are the first Wolf fall sports athletes to hold a season-ending banquet, handing out awards and letters Wednesday night.

As she hailed her harriers, CHS coach Elizabeth Bitting also praised all involved in the program.

“A heartfelt thank you to the parents as well,” she said. “And thank you to our team parent, Shaloma Allen.

“A thank you to (CMS) Coach (Amber) Wyman for attending races with us, and Mr. Coach Wyman for the miles he logged with ‘The Boys’.”

The Wolves will graduate four runners, with three of those having competed during all four of their years at CHS.

“It was a great season!” Bitting said. “Missing those seniors already.”

Last banquet, last honors

They hit the final tape.

Coupeville High School track and field athletes wrapped their season — and the run of spring awards banquets — Thursday night.

Following on the heels of softball, baseball, and girls’ tennis, the school’s largest spring sports squad handed out varsity letters and participation certificates.

CHS coaches, led by Elizabeth Bitting and Bob Martin, also honored Erica McGrath and Hank Milnes as four-year athletes and hailed the 18 Wolves who went to state.
