Four weeks in, the stat sheet is filling up.

Off to a 3-1 start, the Coupeville High School football squad looks strong in all facets of the game.

Last Friday’s 46-0 romp at La Conner let Wolf coaches mix up their lineup a bit more than usual, which allowed several new names to pop up on the stat sheet.

From Cameron Breaux and Marquette Cunningham to Devinion Hill and Hurlee Bronec, they join mainstays like Tim Ursu and Dominic Coffman.

As we head towards a major rumble — this Friday’s Homecoming game against chief Northwest 2B/1B League rival Friday Harbor — a look at the season-to-date stats:

Daylon Houston and Coupeville are getting more respect these days. (Brenn Sugatan photo)

Our computer overlords are a benevolent bunch.

At least this week.

We still need to keep an eye on Skynet, but Newman, the system employed by noted numbers cruncher Matthew Evans, likes Coupeville at the moment.

The latest tally released by Evans Rankings has Wolf football in the top 10 for the first time this season.

Sporting a record of 3-1 heading towards a Homecoming showdown with Friday Harbor, Bennett Richter’s 2B squad has wins over 1A schools Klahowya and Sultan to its credit.

The only loss on the record came to another 1A school, South Whidbey, which is 4-0 and ranked #4 in its classification by Newman.

The work of Evans Rankings doesn’t officially impact the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association and its own RPI rankings, but it should, as the former often turns out to be much more realistic than the latter.

All hail our computer overlords! Now get back to practice.

Wolf football is a rock-solid 3-1 on the season. (Michelle Glass photo)

It was quite the week.

The Coupeville High School varsity volleyball squad pulled off one of the great comebacks in program history to topple Orcas Island in five nail-biting sets.

Meanwhile, Wolf girls soccer, football, and boys soccer all won as well, with the male booters stunning state title contender Friday Harbor and their female counterparts netting their first victory of the season.

The week ahead is fairly light, schedule-wise, but builds to a big finale with Homecoming.

That game is set for Friday, Sept. 30 and pits Coupeville and Friday Harbor in a battle for sole possession of first place in the Northwest 2B/1B League.

Cross country (Wednesday at Orcas), volleyball (Thursday at La Conner), and boys soccer (Tuesday at home against Orcas) also have just one event apiece, while girls soccer plays twice.

The female booters host Mount Vernon Christian Tuesday, before travelling Thursday to La Conner.

As we head towards the final days of the month, a look at standings through Sept. 24:

Tim Ursu, ever alert. (Brenn Sugatan photos)

The pregame warmups are their own show.

A big part of Friday Night Lights comes as fans begin to wander in, while football players and cheerleaders get limbered up and ready for the action ahead.

Catching the action at a recent home game was Coupeville High School student Brenn Sugatan, who delivers the pics seen above and below.

Fortified by snacky goodness and ready for a long night of cheering.

“What kind of shampoo you using? Cause dang, the mane is flowin’!”

Round and round they run.

“Simmer down, man. I’ll stand up when I’m ready.”

Before you throw down a beat-down, always remember to stretch.

Coen Killian teaches the young guns how it’s done.

How many bugs crawled into the helmets while the photo was snapped? Just asking.

Wolf supporters, ready for their close-ups. (Delanie Lewis photo)

Does a game really mean anything if there aren’t fans in the stands?

Coupeville High School teams don’t have to really ponder that question, as Wolf fans generally show up, and show out.

The pics above, shot by CHS students, capture other CHS students supporting their classmates.

The circle of life, as it were.
