They need your help.

As they ramp up for Race the Reserve, the biggest fundraiser for the graduates at Coupeville High School, parents of the Class of 2024 are seeking volunteers for the event.

The call is out for both high school students and adults, and there are a variety of positions waiting to be filled.

Race the Reserve, which features a 5K, 10K, and half marathon, is set for Saturday, Aug. 12.

Money raised goes to fund safe and sober graduation events.

Taygin Jump will not be putting up with any shenanigans today. (Photos by JohnsPhotos.net)

They are the unsung heroes.

If you want to pull off a successful track and field meet, you need a ton of volunteers willing to go the extra mile.

Wednesday afternoon the action was hopping as Coupeville Middle School hosted South Whidbey in the home finale, and those volunteers were the glue holding things together.

Capturing them on film was wanderin’ photo clicker John Fisken, who provides us with the pics seen above and below.

Anna Myles is a strict, but fair judge.

Sarah and Scott Stuurmans make sure their bench stays in place.

Ayden Wyman preps the long jump pit.

She who controls the measuring tape, controls the world.

It’s not an official mark until they say it is.

The day’s best high jumper gets major air.

“Minus two points for eagle-related shenanigans…”

Volunteers make the world run.

Especially those who opt to help out for home track and field meets, where every person counts.

Coupeville hosts four meets this spring, including the high school district championships, and is in need of volunteers to keep things running smoothly.

No prior track and field experience is required, just a willingness to help.

“Our coaches will put you in positions where you feel comfortable and can explain how everything works,” said Coupeville High School/Middle School Athletic Director Willie Smith.

“Plus, our coaches absolutely guarantee great weather for all of the meets,” he added with a mischievous smile. “So that should not even be a concern of yours when considering.”

Volunteers need to be at meets, which are held at the stadium behind Coupeville Elementary, at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the event.

Coupeville’s home meets:

Wednesday, Mar. 22 — high school league meet — 4-6 teams — 3:30 PM
Wednesday, Apr. 26 — middle school league meet — 4 teams — 3:30 PM
Wednesday, May 10 — middle school league meet — 2 teams — 3:30 PM
Saturday, May 13 — high school district meet — multiple teams — 11:00 AM

Coupeville Middle School basketball stars applaud the idea you might volunteer to help run the Hoopaholics camp next summer. (Photo by JohnsPhotos.net)

It’s the basketball circle of life.

Help out with behind the scenes work at next summer’s Hoopaholics camp, and it will come back to benefit Coupeville basketball programs.

The camp, which brings numerous adult players to Whidbey Island, including U-Dub and NBA legend Steve Hawes, is in its 34th year of existence.

Participants stay at Camp Casey, with games held at the Coupeville High School gym during Father’s Day weekend June 16-18, 2023.

Volunteers are needed to help run the score board, do food prep, and set up.

Donations of cookies, snack mixes, and other homemade or store-bought goodies is also a priority.

Hoopaholics has a strong relationship with CHS basketball, and always makes a financial donation back to aid the Wolf hoops programs.

To volunteer, contact Amy Briscoe at (360) 632-2229.

Show your support for Coupeville athletics. (Photo by JohnsPhotos.net)

Ask not what Wolf Nation can do for you; ask what you can do for Wolf Nation.

A new school year approaches, and that means the Coupeville Booster Club is back in business and looking to add to its roster of volunteers.

The club hosts its first public meeting Thursday, Sept. 1 at 6 PM and everyone is invited.

The meeting is set for the health room in the entrance to the Coupeville High School gym — first door on your left as you step through the front door.

You can attend one meeting and never be seen again or jump in and join the movement.

Either way, attending the first get-together is a great way to get a feel for what the group does.

From supplying athletic letters, to making sure athletes have snacks on road trips, to helping CHS coaches purchase new equipment, to maintaining the Wall of Fame in the gym, the booster club is the motor which drives Wolf Nation.
