She’s the terror of taekwondo town.

Coupeville Elementary School multi-sport star Scotlyn Helm continues to set the sports world ablaze.

When she’s not punching the pedal through the metal on the racetrack, Finley’s talented lil’ sis is busy flinging kicks and punches on the mat.

Competing with mom Lindsey at her first Class A taekwondo tournament in Eugene this weekend, Scotlyn brought home an assortment of medals.

She scored in forms, weapons, combat, and sparring.

Scotlyn gets congratulations from her trainer, who told her to “sweep the leg!”

While Scotlyn was kickin’ fanny and takin’ names, mom Lindsey was also busy.

The popular Coupeville teacher, staying on top of her game in case she has to put down any ruckuses in class, earned her own medals in combat, creative weapons, and X-Treme weapons.

Lindsey and Finley share a moment before mom goes out and lays down a whuppin’.

Izzy LeVine and the parental units.

She’s grapplin’ across the USA.

Former Coupeville supernova Izzy LeVine, who lives in Arizona these days, continues to pursue excellence on the wrestling mat.

The Casteel High School sophomore’s latest venture was a performance this past weekend in the girls’ high school showcase division at the 2024 US Open Championships in Las Vegas.

LeVine, who grew up on Whidbey as the youngest of Sean and Joline’s three mega-talented daughters, went 2-2 in the 135-pound weight class against some of the best competition in the country.

She entered as the #13 seed (out of 30 grapplers) and knocked off the current Utah state champion (6-0) and a wrestler from Colorado (12-2), while narrowly falling short against competitors from Michigan and California.

To be in the field, a wrestler had to have placed in their state tourney, as LeVine did, or be an All-American.

Micky and Jae’s lil’ sis is “looking forward to working toward qualifying again for next year!” according to her PR man, who doubles as her father.

A teensy-tiny bit of movement.

The Coupeville High School track and field team competed at two meets this past week, closing out the regular season, while retaining its presence on the individual top 10 performance lists.

All five Wolves who were on the chart a week ago are still there, with Lyla Stuurmans appearing twice.

She got bumped down one rung in the 400, as did Katie Marti in the shot put.

Meanwhile, Reese Wilkinson held her spot, but set a PR, lobbing the discus 15 inches further than ever before.

Up next? The Northwest 2B/1B League Championships this Wednesday, May 1 in Mount Vernon.

As the Wolves prep for that meet, with an eye on districts and the state meet after that, a look at where CHS athletes pop up on the top 10 chart for 2B through April 29:

400 — Lyla Stuurmans (9th) 1:04.72

Lucy Sandahl (left), mom Jeannie, and big sis Sophie.

She is the voice in their ear, both calm and ferocious.

Coupeville grad Lucy Sandahl, now a senior at Seattle Pacific University, excels as a coxswain for the Falcon rowing team.

As she winds her way through her final collegiate season, the former Wolf, who was a standout volleyball and track athlete at CHS, continues to soar.

This weekend, Sandahl and her teammates are in California, where they competed at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships.

The varsity 8+ boat, led by Coupeville’s progeny, crushed the competition Saturday, winning its race by more than six seconds.

The Falcons then came back around Sunday to claim a third place showing in the grand final.

SPU gets back at it next Saturday, May 4, when it participates in the Windermere Cup Regatta hosted by the University of Washington.

It’ll be a reunion, as Lucy’s older sister, Sophie, a former Falcon rower herself, will also be competing, as a member of the Masters team for the Lake Washington rowing club.

The Dutch were ready for their closeup.

Oak Harbor’s annual Holland Happening went down this weekend, and wandering paparazzi John Fisken was lurking along the edges, snapping pics.
