It just got legendary up in here, as former Wolf greats David Ford (left) and Jon Roberts drop in to watch their progeny play some hoops.

Coupeville’s finest, (l to r) Ashlie Shank, Sarah Wright, Smith and Ashley Menges, get photobombed by Steve “Big Papa” Kiel.

Every great sports photographer knows one important trick — don’t spend all your time focused on the on-court action.

At any Coupeville High School basketball game, there are a ton of other things going on worthy of a pic or two.

Be it band, cheer, celebrity sightings or just people goofing off, you need to get good color to go with the sports action.

The photos above, snapped at Wednesday’s Wolf doubleheader against Orcas Island, come to us courtesy Diet Coke-lovin’ camera clicker John Fisken.

Like what you see?

Well, like I said, he likes his Diet Coke and he’s scheduled to be shooting at Friday night’s CHS girls’ basketball games.

Hint, hint, nudge, nudge, oh wait, is that a concession stand that sells Diet Coke?!?!

How convenient.

Kailey Kellner (John Fisken photos)

Maybe use Photoshop to add flames around Kailey Kellner, cause she was en fuego, nailing six treys. (John Fisken photos)

Allison Wenzel

Even blinded by her own hair, Allison Wenzel will put your butt on the floor, hard. Then help you up afterwards, cause she’s actually really nice.

Orcas player: “Hey, I almost beat Makana Stone for the tip.” And we check the tape, and nope, you’re a dirty, dirty liar.

Ashlie Shank

Ashlie Shank knows they want her basketball, but she’s not giving it up, thank you very much.

Lindsey Roberts

Lindsey Roberts, here to take stats … and plot shenanigans.

Lauren Grove

Lauren Grove is shocked to hear you think she’d be a part of any shenanigans. Simply shocked…

Mia Littlejohn

That look Mia Littlejohn gets right before she torches your entire team.

"Youse comes to Cow Town, we maybe roughs you up a bit, eh?" Brisa Herrera (left) and Sarah Wright (behind #15) administer a dang fine mugging.

No prisoners.

Putting their pedal through the metal from the opening tip, both of the Coupeville High School girls’ basketball squads thrashed visiting Orcas Island Wednesday.

The Wolf varsity did it with long-range bombs from every angle, while the JV squad went lock-down on defense, beatin’ the ever-lovin’ snot out of the Vikings.

Along for the ride was travelin’ photo man John Fisken, who escaped with the photos above.

Ty Eck

Ty Eck, flashing the cold-blooded eyes of a true long-range assassin.

Gabe Wynn

Gabe Wynn? Apparently he’s so quick all the other players are still looking at where he was, even after he’s long gone.

James Vidoni

That moment when the rebound seems like it will never, ever come down. Good thing James Vidoni (40) is patient.

Wiley Hesselgrave

Wiley Hesselgrave picks up some more frequent flier mileage.

Ariah Bepler

Ariah Bepler, draining free throws just like his mom and pops both did back in the day.

Risen Johnson

You may think you will deny Risen Johnson, but spoiler: you won’t.

Luke Merriman

Fair warning. You ruffle even one of Luke Merriman’s perfectly-coiffed hairs and he’ll drop 30 on you.

The Wolves tasted the air up there, and they liked it.

Doing a lot of their work up above the court Wednesday, the CHS boys’ hoops squads rained defeat down on visiting Orcas Island.

As the varsity pulled out a last-second thriller and the JV turned a close game into a rout with a wild finish, travelin’ photo man John Fisken was on hand to document the happenings.

The photos above are courtesy him.

“Give me some space to be brilliant!” Jacobi Pacquette-Pilgrim (and a well-placed elbow), hard at work.

Daniel Olson

Daniel Olson is money in the bank, and he’s about to make another deposit.

Jered Brown

Jered Brown is either going to score or wipe out the cameraman. Or both.

Sage Downes

Sage Downes tip-toes along the baseline.

Mason Grove

Sit down, son. Mason Grove (right) just schooled you.

Action everywhere you looked.

Forks was in town Monday and the Coupeville Middle School boys’ basketball teams put up a good fight, splitting the varsity games.

The 8th graders rallied behind Sean Toomey-Stout for a win (if you arrow down the page here on Coupeville Sports, you’ll find a complete recap), while the 7th graders lost a close one.

Daniel Olson, former “assistant manager” at David’s DVD Den, rattled home a team-high 14 in that one, while Jake Mitten added nine and hauled down 15 rebounds.

Matthew Kelley filled up the stat sheet with five points, seven boards, four steals and three assists.

Travelin’ photo man John Fisken surprised everyone by popping in for a few moments on his way to covering high school basketball in Oak Harbor, and the photos above are courtesy him.

Cheerleaders, camera. Camera, cheerleaders.

Travelin’ photo man John Fisken clicked away merrily Wednesday as CHS hosted a season-opening basketball doubleheader, but not all the photos made it from his camera to my computer … until now.

The pics above capture the Wolf cheer squad in brief moments of rest, as they were on their feet and hard at work the other 99.2% of the night.
